have you checked out the entire Asus roadmap planned for 2010? definitely look at the 'N' series, and the letter J denotes the implementation of nvidia optimus
as a side note, i recently read a review with an asus laptop with optimus in it from engadget or gizmodo, and battery life wasn't that great. i guess google reviews once you have your eyes set on one. go i5 or i7! such a huge difference from the atoms

I am waiting on the release of UL30JT before I make a decision on UL30VT vs. Timeline | i love the UL's but the processor is quite outdated. the U30jc is much better. Plus you get a DVD slot in the 13 inch.

Plus when the JT is released, it is going with an i5/i7 processor.
Wouldn't mind the X42JV either but that seems to be only a EU-FR release.

NCIX is having $80 off the UL30 which makes it pretty good deal when I was considering the UL20.
Not sure now if I should wait and see the newer models or just get the UL30.

Seems that the consensus is to get the UL30VT instead of the UL30JT since performance is negligible, meanwhile throwing in a SSD as well.

Apparently 4+ hrs is great. I guess I was just expecting at least 6+ with optimus.

I don't know where you got that from.
The A1 has a switchable "power boost" whereas the A2 does not.
In other words, if you plan on playing modern games, don't expect too much out of the A2.

Also, just to note, the UL30A-A1/A2 is different than the UL30VT-A1...

I found a ASUS UL30VT-A1 for about $100 cheaper (open box) from NCIX, so if you really like this laptop, and have lots of patience, you might find one too.

I have still yet to buy another laptop.

The latest Acer products I have owned were monitors and the Aspire One netbook. Both have been great. One of the monitors is about 3 years old and is still going strong, meanwhile the other which is a year old is also fine. I don't have the netbook anymore, but it was solid.
