5v+5v in parallel is not = to 10v

5v+5V in SERIES = 10V, however you'll probably burn your mobo

How portable does it need to be? If it's just for your desk, get a 12VDC wall adapter and use a variable resistor to vary the speed. Or get an adjustable wall adapter and just use the voltage selector on there to change the speed.

No it won't.

I took one of my board and made serial 2 usb like I mentioned, it simply stopped supplying power. I restarted the computer and usb works again with 5V output.

but whatever.. Don't listen to me which no body does anyway.
