Picture is worth a thousand words.. and I don't feel like typing. haha

One of the most beautiful sunsets I've ever seen. Couldn't capture it as well as I wanted..

Beautiful Rice Patties:

First time seeing a beach made of volcanic black sand:

Went snorkelling here, no one was there except us:

Went surfing here at a secluded beach: There was literally no one.. (everyone stays at the crowded touristy place called Kuta)

Lush Waterfalls:

Climbed a Volcano:

Nice places to stay:

Food was plentiful and delicious.

Beautiful Secluded Beach

Plenty to see and do. Beautiful place, nice people, beautiful culture. The best was renting a car and exploring the island on your own. The second best was the roast pork .

Can you be my tour guide?

In return, I'll pay for your food!

Oh my, you were right, words cannot do the place justice. Those pictures make me really want to go there now. I never would have considered the place before.

LOL, you cheap bastard. No dice! Considering each meal is like $5, tops. For the most decadent dinner ever, its usually around $20-30 for a meal that would cost $100+ here.

Ya, there's a beach where you can eat at, while watching the sunset. Really quite nice.

One of the best meals ever.

Did you have a tour guide? Or did you just venture the entire indonesian island?

Did you speak the native tongue?

No, no tour guide.. I hate that crap. Just rented a car and brought a guidebook. Sometimes its fun when you try to communicate with someone who doesn't have a damn clue about what you're saying. Usually you can find someone who speaks English, since there is a lot of tourism on the island.

^It's called Jimbaran Beach, on second thought.... doesn't quite look like Jimbaran to me.. looks like one of those private hotel beach?

also LiquidTurbo, your first post should have been 35,000 Rupiah, not 350,000, since 350,000 = $40 cad roughly

Did you try "Nuri Ribs" ? it's said to be the best ribs ever...

this was back in 1998 but in Java, they are a bit more open now. Bali on the other hand has always been somehow a safe sanctuary for the Chinese Indonesians.

Hey, thanks for the catch.. my rupees is off by an order of magnitude... the pic is indeed from Jimbaran Beach, although the restaurant was a little nicer than the others..I didn't get a chance to try the Nuri Ribs! Next time.

In the first batch of pictures, if you hadn't said that it was Indonesia, I could have easily mistaken it for the Philippines.

The roast pig looked the same as lechon, except the stuffing. I would love to try the Indonesian variation.

Wow bump from 2010. I never saw these beautiful photos. They're awesome, Liquid. I wish I had seen this post before, I would have definately tried the roast pig. I did however, go to Bumbo Bali just like you did it seems!

Anyways not sure if you are still there 'zzzz'. the temple on the cliff should be Pura Tanah Lot.
