LED TV Sharp vs Toshiba

I'm in between these
- Sharp 46" Class LED-LCD 1080p 120Hz HDTV, LC-C46700UN
- Toshiba 46" Class LED-LCD 1080p 240Hz HDTV, 46SV670U

The toshiba is $100 more expensive than sharp. Any suggestion??

Here's the main question: Do you want a higher refresh rate? If so, pay the extra $100.
You can find better TVs for that price, IMO.

Samsung 46" Class 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV, LN46C630 has the same price as Sharp. Samsung UN46C5000 is $350 more expensive than Sharp.

Does it make any big difference from 120Hz? I want to get the best picture out of the TV. Toshiba's MSRP from their site is way more expensive than Sharp but the price is not that much higher in the store.

Oh, Toshiba is 1" thicker than Sharp.

Higher refresh rate equates to less motion blur, but there isn't much difference between 120Hz and 240Hz.
You sound more interested in the Sharp TV, though.

+1 for Samsung TV's on the lighter note

i would go with the sharp, 1 i the sharp LED myself, not sure if its the same series, 2, 120Hz vs 240Hz is minimal, its a marketing gimick, u'll only notice the difference if u look really hard, or a tv nerd. and 3 i would get the sharp just cause its 1inch thinner so it hangs closer to the wall.

If u have the money, or are willing to spend the money, get samsung units, they're pretty much the best out there, but if u dont have the money, go with sharp.

Go plasma and don't worry about refresh rates.

If you want LED TV, go with Samsung. Much better picture quality.

Also, plasma if your situation works for it. Color is amazing, and much better blacks still. Also cheaper per inch.

Most are 480 and there is no motion blur with any plasma.

What IS the disadvantage with plasma anyway? They're cheaper for the size and nicer. So why not?

I've always wondered, how's weight a disadvantage? Are you like moving your TV THAT often that it being heavier becomes a disadvantage?

As for burn-in, I say that is more of a user-created problem. Unless you seriously do need the TV on 24/7, turn it off when you're not using it, simple as that.

Burn in has not been a problem for at least a few years. Heat can be a problem but the better picture quality is worth it.

Mounting a Plasma with 2 people in no problem and you only do it once.

Mounting TVs to walls is over-rated. Most set-ups I've seen have TVs mounted too high and this puts a strain on your neck after a while. It would have been more effective to mount my TV over the fireplace, like every Jack and Jill condo dweller, but I decided to buy a stand instead and save my neck.

Besides, where the heck would I have housed my components?

Most videophiles and home-theatre enthusiasts only go for one type of TV and that is a plasma made by Pioneer. Unfortunately Pioneer has stopped making TVs so the prices for used Kuros have remained steady. People always talk about power consumption and heat, but who really watches TV for several hours a day to actually have these things become a factor?

I went to see some TVs at Bestbuy last Sunday, the first TV i noticed was the Samsung 8 Series TV. I compared it to other TVs and none of them were as clear as the one i was looking at, best bet is to go for Samsung as they progressively kill the competition, in quality but you have to pay the extra bucks , imo it is worth it.

Yeah, i'm keeping an eye on Samsung UN46C6300 for now. Should I go with LED 6 series or LCD 7/8 series?
