That's funny and sad at the same time. All the years people have been straight through and all they do is bolt a new sign up. HAHAAA. Any time I see a right turn only there's a "Y" shaped median directing you to the direction you're allowed to turn. edit: just read that they will be putting one in but it's still stupid that they'd put the sign in first.

Guaranteed, most of the guys that blow through either notice the sign and don't care or have been driving through for so long, they don't even notice.

Vansterdam 06-14-2010 05:04 PM

i always wonder what the story behind those "yours/ours"

signs

TOS'd 06-14-2010 07:43 PM

^ or that wall-less house on nanimo, north or 41st.

LengJai 06-14-2010 08:01 PM

Damn never noticed, thx for pointing that out. I live right by there and take that route all the time

I think they tried a lot of things on that intersection.
i remembered 9-10 years ago, there was a NO LEFT TURN sign on there temporary, and there was a triangle island just temporary, saw a lot of people get pulled over, when i was walking home from school

twitchyzero 06-14-2010 09:21 PM

i just realized this todayRupert and 45th ave also has a right turn only (45th ave eastbound). the claredeon one makes sense but the rupert one is pointless

sTi-K 06-15-2010 12:23 AM

From what I recall.. the only reason they are putting up these signs and barriers is to limit the unnecessary traffic which passes through 45th.. considering how 45th is not a main street yet there are lots of vehicles that go through that street everyday.

TOS'd 06-16-2010 07:13 PM

Drove by this morning, they made Elliot narrower at the 4 way stop by drawing a line closer to the sidewalk. Basically a small island on the N and S of the intersection. This now makes it more difficult to left turn onto Elliot via 45th. Which is what they want to achieve.

And I am also told that barriers will soon be up to force a right turn from 45th.

Also, I wasn't able to get the exact day the signs went up, only an approx. one.

No real picture cause it's kinda hard to take one of the lines.
This changes my everyday route now, since I can no longer turn left onto 45th ave. fuckkkk

Good. I hate that stop sign too many people and soo many people try to run it...

sonick 06-17-2010 12:12 PM

They put the same thing on 41st and Angus. No idea why.

TOS'd 06-17-2010 03:27 PM

It's a fucking mess now. Everyone that used the intersection before are now seeing it changed for the first time. This means lots of ppl stopping their cars in the MIDDLE of the intersection trying to figure out how to do left turns, or people still stopping on Elliot thinking there is still a stop sign there.

Which is fucking retarded cause there is a school there and speed bumps. Plus I doubt they care what the speed limit is there.

EmperorIS 06-17-2010 06:38 PM

i don't get the point of doing this ...

the 4 way stop was a lot more safe then this barrier bullshit

bubba_g 06-17-2010 06:44 PM

Its probably part of the same initiative to make the city more cycling friendly, like the recent dunsmuir lane dedication to bikes only. I guess its easier for cyclist to deal with just the north south flow of cars, rather then from all 4 directions.

cho 06-17-2010 08:51 PM

god damn people still treating it as a 4 way stop!!!

yoall 06-17-2010 09:22 PM

IICR, this is on trial for the next 3 months. I will try to find my letter they sent out.

Well see who i can contact and oppose this crap.

I e-mail the story to Michael Klassen, columnist at 24hrs newspaper.
He is going to come down and listen to what the residents have to say.

Meet Michael Klassen

At
Waverley elementary school (Clarendon and 46th)

I talked to 30+ neighbours on St Margarets St. and we have 90% against the median barrier 10% no comment, and 0% in support of the median barrier.

The stats definitely is telling the City something.
