I'm looking for tidal water, off shore places to fish in greater vancouver. and what kind of bait do you use?

i don't have a boat nor going to fish in a lake.

thanks

basically anywhere along the shoreline with a dock or no dock works.
places off the top of my head are:
end of no 3 road
end of no 2 road
amble side
belcarra park

i use shrimp and squid, not sure what other people use.

other than what RX mentioned
Jericho beach has a dock, i remember when i was a kid it was plentiful

mill lake has bass, cat fish, and carp just remember not to take them home alive
salmon as well but need additional stamps

he wants tidal shore fishing, plus he'll need a fresh water license for lake fishing.

i wanna bring this thread back to the top was wondering if anyone has caught anything lately....it's been pretty dead when it comes to sturgeon fishing but pike minnows are abundant in the tidal fraser right now i have been catching them @ 2 rd docks often...since it's a nice day today i might head out to 2 rd to do a little fishing who's down?

distanc3 06-24-2010 04:09 PM

^ thats great

what size are the minnows and what method do you use?

PinoyDrifta 06-24-2010 04:11 PM

these minnows are pretty small right now they should get bigger soon but right now i am using small hooks and tied to a leader then a small egg shaped weight then a snap swivel tied to my mainline.....

TOPEC 06-24-2010 04:53 PM

hmm, i usually wear a white/blue addidas jacket, always sit on a red camping chair, always on the no2 road upper docks by the fence near the corner oh and usually have a cap on. sounds familiar?

PinoyDrifta 06-24-2010 05:26 PM

i think so....next time u see my come say hi..what do u use for bait? and what have u caught there?

PinoyDrifta 06-25-2010 06:30 AM

man i was @ 3 rd docks last night decided to do some sturgeon fishing with a buddy..and he landed a small 1 and a half foot sturgeon on a small ass hook and worms...with his 6 foot ugly stick...freaking hilarious...then 15 mins later i get a hit on my rod and a 4 and a half foot sturgeon starts peeling line from my reel had a good couple of jumps out of the water and fought him hard for 15 mins only for my line to break under the dock...shitty but hey thats the whole thing about fishing...it's just too bad that sturgeon kept running under the dock i wanted to land him but oh well off to fight another day...that was my fishing experience last night...i will prolly be back there tonight

TOPEC 06-25-2010 08:13 AM

nice, i'll try and be there tonight if i have time.

Is the fish you catch safe to eat (the ones that are worth eating that is)? Because the water in that section looks murky and polluted with all the boat traffic.

water is murky due to the fast river stirring up the fine sediment of the riverbed.

PinoyDrifta 06-25-2010 10:23 AM

actually the water is murky due to freshet it's those bits and pieces of wood logs and all sort of crap coming from uppper fraser that the tides takes out here to the lower fraser...and yes a bit of what ever along the way that gets dragged out... thats why the water is murky...but sometimes the water can be clear up to 2 feet maybe more depends...

hey there well it depends on what u are fishing for ....if u wanna fish for small fish bait a small hook with some worms or some deli shrimp and u can trigger some bites....and if u wanna fish for some sturgeon u need to get some smelt and or some Eulachon, and if u wanna fish for salmon well u use roe and or spoons and spinners....but what do u wanna fish anyways?

sturgeon and salmon

TOPEC 06-27-2010 07:09 PM

salmon wont be here until late aug or september

PinoyDrifta 06-28-2010 11:46 AM

actually there is salmon in the fraser right now but there is no retention yet...not till mid july

if you wanna try and catch a sturgeon u need at least a 10-12 foot rod... look at something like an ugly stik and your reel should match your rod....and u will need to use a 80-130 lbs braided line some dacron sturgeon leader...but if i were you go to the tackle shop and ask what people use...thats ur best bet

Boostslut 06-28-2010 11:03 PM

Practice catch and release, and de-barb your hooks. Take a picture and put them back where they came from, and enjoy!
