i wanna bring this thread back to the top was wondering if anyone has caught anything lately....it's been pretty dead when it comes to sturgeon fishing but pike minnows are abundant in the tidal fraser right now i have been catching them @ 2 rd docks often...since it's a nice day today i might head out to 2 rd to do a little fishing who's down? |
^ thats great what size are the minnows and what method do you use? |
these minnows are pretty small right now they should get bigger soon but right now i am using small hooks and tied to a leader then a small egg shaped weight then a snap swivel tied to my mainline..... |
next time maybe u should give a days notice too bad i cant go today as i have school right now |
a day's notice hahah never i ussually just chose to go if it's nice...but u will prolly find me there almost everyday...since i have nothing else to do after work... |
what time do u usually go? i go there maybe once or twice a week on random days, but usually after 6ish depending on the tide and sun. |
i ussually go there around 8 either 2 rd or 3 rd u prolly seen me around there i am a bald headed asian guy |

i think so....next time u see my come say hi..what do u use for bait? and what have u caught there? |
man i was @ 3 rd docks last night decided to do some sturgeon fishing with a buddy..and he landed a small 1 and a half foot sturgeon on a small ass hook and worms...with his 6 foot ugly stick...freaking hilarious...then 15 mins later i get a hit on my rod and a 4 and a half foot sturgeon starts peeling line from my reel had a good couple of jumps out of the water and fought him hard for 15 mins only for my line to break under the dock...shitty but hey thats the whole thing about fishing...it's just too bad that sturgeon kept running under the dock i wanted to land him but oh well off to fight another day...that was my fishing experience last night...i will prolly be back there tonight |
nice, i'll try and be there tonight if i have time. |

actually the water is murky due to freshet it's those bits and pieces of wood logs and all sort of crap coming from uppper fraser that the tides takes out here to the lower fraser...and yes a bit of what ever along the way that gets dragged out... thats why the water is murky...but sometimes the water can be clear up to 2 feet maybe more depends... |
Hey PinoyDrifta i'm starting to learn how to fish with some friends. What bait do you use to fish in 2 or 3 rd? whats the best time to fish there? To OP, sorry for jacking your thread |

salmon wont be here until late aug or september |
actually there is salmon in the fraser right now but there is no retention yet...not till mid july if you wanna try and catch a sturgeon u need at least a 10-12 foot rod... look at something like an ugly stik and your reel should match your rod....and u will need to use a 80-130 lbs braided line some dacron sturgeon leader...but if i were you go to the tackle shop and ask what people use...thats ur best bet |
Practice catch and release, and de-barb your hooks. Take a picture and put them back where they came from, and enjoy! |
