it's more of a hit and miss... One thing's for sure though - if you want a plate with 8's in them, talk to a Chinese broker

I guess you can always call around?

It's a freakin' metal plate with a six-digit identification mark on it! Who cares what it has on it? If you want something good or cool, get a vanity plate!

if you're chinese, then anything with lots of "8" makes a good plate.

it's a chinese thing... 8 = rich

888 MNY

CP.AR 06-27-2010 08:46 PM

wouldn't 168 MNY be better?

I was given the chance to take something from PKJ (PK-Jai). I passed it up because I was given a better choice later

how much is it to get the custom plates?

skylinergtr 06-27-2010 11:17 PM

its very random these days. Its hard to land a good plate. A few years back my dad was able to land tripple 8's, and we're not asian. Having a insurance broker friend definitely helps.

i think its $100 for registration (or to check availabilty), and then its $120 annually as a fee i think... i was looking at this a few months ago but the fact that they havent changed the design of the custom plates, and the stupid license plate has a border of green trees or something. I think it looks pretty ugly. If it was plain white then i would have been sold. Just normal white plates for me. Custom or olympic plates look ugly IMO.

interesting it was driven by a chinese c lai

8thcivic 06-27-2010 11:45 PM

my moms sienna plate # is 168 **A and my civic's plate # is 168 **A... And if your wondering, yes i am chinese....

Edison_Chen 06-27-2010 11:48 PM

Its $100 for the initial application. If that slogan is available then the plate will be made in about 1 month. If the plate is not available, then they refund the $100. Every year its $40 on renewal.

Funkion- did you get insurance at the automall or at the automall dealerships?

StealthFighter 06-28-2010 03:43 AM

if you're really that anal/superstitious about plates.

1. visit http://www.icbc.com/autoplan/broker
2. enter city or partial postal code
3. start calling each broker and asking what range of plates they have.

i just picked my plate from the insurance broker that works at the dealership. no headache.

he also saved 000 PEJ for one of my friend's camaros. other than that it's hit and miss
