Torque Steer

I don't know how you fwd guys do it.

I took my truck in for a couple recalls and they gave me this rental pos and I can't believe that 100hp thing had such bad torque steer. Felt like it wanted to rip the steering wheel right out of my hands.

Anyways, just thought I would let you in on my thoughts.

I'll stick with my rwd...

roastpuff 06-28-2010 03:47 PM

You have weak arms? :p

If you were driving a Mazdaspeed3 you would probably be twisted into a pretzel right now, haha.

skyxx 06-28-2010 03:49 PM

Weaksauce.

Qmx323 06-28-2010 03:53 PM

what kind of rental POS with 100hp did u have?

i drove a lude with 160hp and its torque steer was pretty normal

Tegra_Devil 06-28-2010 03:55 PM

dude, hit the gym

GabAlmighty 06-28-2010 04:02 PM

Hahahah.

Well, only other fwd i've driven was my parents van some time ago. And never pushed that so I guess this would be the first time i've "experienced" any form of torque steer.

Dont drive with one hand? LOL.. Ive driven a bunch of FWD cars and i dont usually notice any torque steer.. Maybe just a shitty car you had?

Probably would've helped. And possibly... Thing had less guts than my 4runner going up hills.

Lomac 06-28-2010 04:09 PM

Try driving a DD FWD car with 300hp and 350+lb/tq and then complain to me about torque steer. :lol

CP.AR 06-28-2010 06:27 PM

When i push my TL I have learnt that it is necessary to push the steering wheel to the left

jpark 06-28-2010 07:21 PM

mazdaspeed3 is the definiton of torque steer, u should go test drive one of those and than update the thead :D

!Aznboi128 06-28-2010 08:46 PM

jpark 06-28-2010 10:36 PM

^oh yea true that... completly forgot about those gm fwd.. same as the pontiac gtp/gxp :D

hk20000 06-28-2010 10:43 PM

new cars with EPS keeps the feedback to the minimum so it SHOULD feel less tq steery lol.

But it's physics you can't fix that.

jlenko 06-28-2010 10:48 PM

Locking diff helps a bit... even those Phantom Grip inserts are better than nothing.

But instead of torque steer, you now get to experience the poor man's version of an LSD in the form of a squirming steering wheel as the ABS kicks in on one side to prevent the tire from spinning.

I hate (cheaply designed) electronic diff's so much...

Dentz 06-28-2010 11:07 PM

You guys are funny, as I'd like to see you deal with this beast:

1966 Oldsmobile Toronado:

425 Rocket V8 @ roughly 385hp. Oh yeah, it's front wheel drive.

GabAlmighty 06-28-2010 11:12 PM

Why in the fuck would they make such an epic looking car fwd... It's sad really.

What the fuck are you on about? My Speed 3 has hardly more torque steer than my old 85 civic did.
