OCZ PSU? any good? Antec is the only brand I used in the past. Saw this earlier and I am planning to get their 750w one. Do they make good PSU? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341018 14cm fan http://www.overclockers.co.uk/pimg/CA-032-OC_400.jpg |
They are very decent power supplies, plus after acquiring PC Power & cooling, they started to use some tech from that in their own line. They aren't exactly the best on the market but for the price you pay they are decent. I usually tend to spend a bit more on my Power supplies since it's the thing that "runs" the computer. |
OCZ are among the best PSUs out there Corsairs are excellent for the price too |
Correct me if I am wrong, but OCZ's fan tend to be abit louder. |
^ I read about this PSU has bad fan vibration. Not sure if that's just production fault? |
Decent for the price - in fact, you won't find a cheaper modular PSU, but apparently it isn't of the best built quality and you will find many that are quieter. I'm going with Seasonic for my new build. Also, Corsair PSUs are made by Seasonic, hence the good quality. |
This is the one I've been using. http://ncix.com/products/?sku=38649&...r&promoid=1034 Running an i7 920 with 2x5870's in Crossfire and it stays cool and the fan is queit as well, even under load. It's a little longer than others, so it might not fit all cases. |
i had the gamestream and it crapped out on me after 6months... after that i never went with OCZ again.. i use PCPower&Cooling... AWESOME.... |

Under load is what matters for a PSU's rating. Will it consistently push out what is promises. The 500 watt OCZ does just that, full amperage all the way to 500 watts. I'm running the 700 watt one myself, have had zero issues with reliability. Edit: Also, if you want it tomorrow: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...y&promoid=1034 |

^ Yes. I have the 500w ModXStream Pro, it's a good power supply. I have found only two faults with it. - not fully modular (20+4 pin, 4-pin and 8-pin cables hardwired) - short cables (not long enough to tuck the cables away in my Antec Three Hundred, so I have obstructed airflow and it plain looks ugly inside) I've heard bad things about OCZ's ModStream and StealthXStream power supplies, but the ModXStream line is of decent quality. |

I run the PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad Crossfire Red Edition, and it's been rock-solid and extremely quiet. It is made by OCZ, too, but it has retained that PCP&C quality. |
I believe that even under the OCZ brand, PC Power & Cooling still runs on a different assembly line. May be in the same factory but definitely on another assembly line. None the less both brands offer good/great products. As I stated before, I'd spend a bit more on Power supplies. |
Corsair is the best. Get hx1000 and u wont have to buy another ps ever again. |
Corsair is pretty decent as well. 5 year warranty, modular cables, and flat ribbon cable design. OCZ I've heard mixed reviews but that goes with a lot of brands. I always spent more $$ on my PS. The OCZ looks good and appears to have good reviews. 140mm fan means it's pretty quiet too. |

I have 3 of the OCZ modxstream PSU (400/550/600w) I brought them mainly because they were cheap (after MIR, usually around $25-45), and so far they've all worked quite well for me. Quiet and no issues after years of uses. (on the other hand, I've had 2 antec psu problems) I know some people like this, but the one thing I hated the most is the red neon light. My PC is quiet enough to leave on at night, but the freaking neon light is too distracting in a dark room. Anyone knows if you can disable it? |
OCZ is good bang for the buck...not the best out there but still decent. |
Not the best, but honestly, probably wouldn't matter unless you just want to have the best of the best parts. I prefer Corsair over OCZ though. Corsairs seem to be more quieter from my experience, with the PSU's I've tried. |
Yeah Corsair makes really quiet PSUs |
I've got a Corsair HX520 myself...but OCZ is just so cheap lol |
+1 OCZ Been running OCZ's for a while in my last 3 machine builds. Never had an issue with any of the ones I purchased. |

OCZ 700w is out of stock... what else are good? I was suggested to buy Aerocool / Acbel / Cooler master http://www.price.com.hk/space/produc...1_395896_0.jpg http://www.price.com.hk/space/produc...5_724363_0.jpg http://www.price.com.hk/space/produc...9_845251_0.jpg |
