Where to Dump Old TV (CRT) I have a fairly large 45" - 50" or so crt tv, just wondering where i can dump it for free... or if soemone is willing to pay for taking in old tvs, that would be even better... the tubes in the tv are fked and has been repaired 3 times and we dont want to hassle with it anymore if anyone reading this thread is interested in the tv (tubes are messed up inside), you can come grab it from my house ASAP anytime night or day |
i know the return it depot in richmond by steveston and 5 road takes in old tvs and monitors free. |
Look it up at http://www.encorp.ca |
i know for sure the return it depot under knight street bridge and right behind home depot in richmond takes it for sure. i just recycled two there. i think the street is vulcan way? |
the thrift store behind kingsway honda on 12th. go in the alley and pull into the thrift store's back. they took like 20 old tv's from me before. they also take computers and printers stuff. the city dump don't take printers... |
i think you can just put it out like normal trash. even if they don't take it you might get lucky and get scrapper to take it if you leave a "for free" note. just wondering why u still using the old style tube tv's? LCD/Plasma's are the best and not even that expensive |

CRT tube style TV's are still better in many aspects including picture quality. At EVO 2010 video gaming championships they were using CRT's still. |
Post it on RS saying you are giving the TV for free. As long as it works I am sure some cheapo will take it lol. Or try carglist. |

The only way to guarantee your electronics are recycled responsibly (i.e not sent overseas to China) is dropping them off at a Return-It site. Encorp.ca for locations. |

what i find most disturbing was that they had a truck for recycling and donation. i thought recycling would be free, and if not at least take the tv for donation. i think he just wanted to pocket the money himself. |
u know what the best think to do is call "big brothers" to come & help u pick that tv up |

I'm guessing 95% of CRT tube tv's aren't 1080i/p compatible. And for what its worth its only 1080i which is inferior to 1080p |
