Vanvouver's gas most expensive in the nation

VANCOUVER(News1130) - It's official, Vancouver currently has the highest gas prices in the country.
Petroluem marketing company MJ Ervin finds the average price across Canada is roughly 1.04 a litre as of July 27th.
Here in Vancouver the average price is 1.19.
60 markets were sampled in the survey.
We top traditional number ones, including Whitehorse and Yellowknife - the latter being at just over a 1.18.
The lowest price at the pump belongs to Edmonton at around 86 cents a litre.
Toronto is just below the national average at 1.03 a litre.

Yeah, you can thank all the freaking gas taxes which were applied in the last 10 years.

WTF is wrong with the government here?? I live in White Rock and it is 1.19 here too. They implement/over see carbon tax, regular tax on gas, (I don't know how they can tax on tax?), etc. and yet that is not enough.
I hate how everything goes up in price but wages/raises do not.
*end of rant*

^ translink is partially responsible as they pushed for tax raises in gas to encourage ppl to ride the bus (i think)

Sure the prices are high in BC, but consider this:

- I would say that the average commuting distance for people who live in the Lower Mainland is far less than what it is in say Toronto, or any major city in the United States (unless you're commuting from Abbostford to Downtown Vancouver everyday)
- BC has the lowest income tax rate (besides Nunavut) for anyone making under 70K (taxes have to come from somewhere to pay for services we use)

i applied for a nexus pass just for the purpose of getting gas (i work 15 minutes away from point roberts so it's not really out of my way.)

Man translink really needs to stop ane think about their strategies... Find out why people aren't taking the bus, not randomly implement taxes to encourage ridership.

Wrong. The BC Liberals did.
ummm are you sure? the lowest income tax rate?? are you kidding me? they are already robbing me with 30% taxes, what more could they possibly want in other provinces
