That's 45% right there.

Japanese make up another 2%, and Filipinos are 6%. That's well over half the population already.

I listened to the snippet of the story on CBC Radio One this morning. The guy who did the report is an old colleague of mine from my time at UBC (so I respect his work), but it's unfortunate that his story only featured a woman who didn't really do anything to improve the image of the Chinese community by implying that Richmond is for Chinese people only.

Nor was I really satisfied by the response of Tung Chan, whom some have deemed to be a possible candidate for the Mayor of Vancouver:

Sure, it's unacceptable, but there are reasons why some people still harbour suspicions about various ethnic groups.

Those attitudes don't have a place anywhere, not just in Richmond.
