most lot boys ARE lot boys so they can get in as an apprentice in the shop under a licensed technician.

usually, if a spot opens up in the shop, first dibs go to the lot boys or the shop janitor if they are waiting to get into the shop...

CorneringArtist 09-19-2010 09:33 PM

Applied at BJ BMW for the PT lot boy position they had up on the site. Doubt I'll get it, but I need to get my foot in the door again in time for November. If anyone at a dealership needs a temporary or otherwise weekend lot boy, let me know please and thanks!

I've played rugby for three years, so I won't be damaging my body any more than I already have, and the hand/joints/back/fume damage I did to myself as a tech assistant for work experience in 80 hours was way more satisfying than the repetitive precise shit I put up with working at my mom's plastics factory (ie. small components, and work station setup was on average 6 inches lower for my height - NOT fun having to stay hunched over constantly compared to working under a car on a hoist). I've already committed the money on going to BCIT, so I'm not turning back now.

You can also keep your eyes peeled on our Employement Resources Forum

http://www.revscene.net/forums/emplo...rces-f154.html

Occasionally there would be an ad or two popping up looking for Lot Attendants.
Here's one.
http://www.revscene.net/forums/wante...t-t625995.html

I got $10/hour at JP Suzuki as lot boy. Honestly, I'd much rather be a lot attendant over a cook any day. I got paid $12/hour + Tips when I was a cook, and was a ten minute drive from my house, whereas I got $10/hour and I had to drive 30 - 40 minutes to get to work, I would still much rather be a lot attendant because of the environment I was in, the people I've met, and the work I was doing.

I honestly like the line of work I'm in as a service lot boy (beats McDicks, or restaurants), but I fucking hate the fact that MY section of service is the only one that has to take its lunch break on the go or when there's no cars in for service for 30 minutes. At worst, we don't get to take lunch (we do get our 15's but that's when it's dead as hell). There's always techs working regardless if the majority have taken their lunch. Every other department gets theirs.

Because I have to take my lunches late as hell, I've nearly passed out or had really low blood sugar levels because of it. Seriously, if I don't take in my meals at the right time, it hits me HARD.

I saw an ad on clist and applied in person. I was interviewed on the spot then hired the next day. I was told that there were 20 other applicants that were interviewed, but I was best suited for the job.

CorneringArtist 09-30-2010 05:27 PM

I drove the Lexus LS460 that belonged to the big boss of JP Toyota Surrey since we had to wash it today. Fuck that car is baller, auto-park, comfy leather seats and everything. His taste in rims was good, but the car needed more lower and less balloon tires.

Jgresch 09-30-2010 05:29 PM

Raybald? or harbuttle?

CorneringArtist 09-30-2010 05:53 PM

I think it was Raybald.

did you come in jeans? haha

The_Situation 09-30-2010 11:16 PM

No. I believe that was one of my friends. I just found out that I am competing against 2 of my close friends for 1 spot.

Rogue951 10-01-2010 07:30 AM

I used to do lot at Dueck on Marine for a year. Best hours I've had on a job (8-4) but lousy pay (10/hr, lousy now that I make 3x that but I was younger at the time it wasn't that bad i guess.) and some of the managers were dicks. Need to get their arrogance checked at the door.
Probably the only time I'll drive a corvette and I can say I treated the cars I took care of with respect, not like some of my co workers who ripped them around cause they could.
However it was pretty flexible, I took the random day off when I needed to, monday to friday job.
Would I do that job now? no, but not bad for a starting job.
