| Anyone work for a cell phone place. Rogers, bell, wireless wave etc
Just curious as to how your experience was and if you enjoyed it of hated it. Hoe much you made hourly and also how much commision you would make. I'm currently jobless so I've been looking into a Lot of cell places because there's so many.
Any help would be great thanks. Also anyone know how to apply for the cell places inside costco? Posted via RS Mobile |

the place inside costco is owned by the same company that owns wireless wave. there's a parent site that takes application for both.. i forgot the website.. have to look it up the internet. i used to work for cellularbaby fido.. i don't mind the job.. coz it's not too bad.. but i hated the company.. the pay ain't too bad.. ur hourly wage is based on ur previous month's performance and the commission checks ain't shabby.. but there's too much shaddy shit going on with that company to screw you out of ur commission check completely or deduction here and there etc... i dunno about the commission structures of other companies.. but i'd say if u were to work in the wireless industry.. stay the fuk away from chinese owned cellular places.

think carefully if you really want to make a splash in the wireless industry, think twice on LOCATION if you really want to make some money. Its a dirty industry in my books and if you dont act fast, sales wont happen. you can only love the industry so much, but to work in it is a completely different story. In a sense, be prepared to throw what you know about cell phones out the door because you can be armed with all the knowledge in the world, but all customers want is cheap, and EXCELLENT service. Be known, that you can sell like crazy, but if your customer service sucks, you will get canned

darthchili pretty much summed it up.
Throw all that "knowledge" about cell phones you know out the door. The average customer doesn't care about whatyou know. They want to know what is the cheapest and best phone you can give them.

hes right...if your good at communicating/selling, you'll do well, if not then...tough luck
those guys at metro make 70-80grand a year...i know this because one of the sales guys used to be a manager at another location, threw that position away to bcome a rep at that location. So yes, location is huge for wireless...

darthchili is right about this one. It's way too competitive over at Metrotown with all the stores. And from my own observation, the guys at Wireless Wave are still the same guys who worked there since forever. The moment I walk in there, BAM! there's a sales guy ready to help me or has acknowledged my presence. I don't expect this but the level and quality of customer service for retail sales reps have sure sky rocketed and has changed the industry. One thing about being in retail wireless sales is you have to be prepared to instant change.
With my limited experience as a seasonal Fido rep many moons ago that in itself was tough as I was situated at their Richmond Centre location and I couldn't speak Mandarin worth squat. As a result, my sales suffered while my colleagues (who spoke Mandarin, Cantonese, and English) did a lot better than me. Be careful of where you apply and what your clientele will be like. This is one of the keys to being a successful sales rep and picking and choosing your clientele is one of them.
I kind of have this lingering regret not staying in sales.

Having a family member working at Wireless Wave ... everything said in here is correct.
The biggest thing about wages is ... if you don't know how to hustle, then get out the game. You are better off flipping burgers. It's a sharks game. If you haven't worked in a commission's based environment before then I would not suggest it unless you are beyond hungry for money. And a lot of it has to do with location. If you're in a good location (aka AAA store) then you are bound to make some big bucks provided you got skillz to close a sale.

just tellin the truth of the industry
7yr vet, i've seen it all
to be honest, you seen very intrigued in the wireless industry, it wouldnt hurt to give it a shot. Its not easy being motivated, but try it. the best sales out there are ones that apply customer service and THEN knowledge
thats usually the steps to a successful sale anyways. which is why, i sell NO LGs, NO BB CURVES(unless i probed the situation that all this person needs is BBM) and sell what I WANT TO sell. Curves and LG have high return rate, you dont want that to happen. that will hurt you.

Yeah I've been put through it first hand. Stupid bitch made it seemed like I was getting a discount and sold me on this lg vu at the time I just really wanted a touch screen phone. Probably one of the worst decisions I've ever made, turned out the only reason why she gave me a discount is bc the phone was open box by the time o found out I apparently wasn't able to return t
it. Fuckin retarded.
But I totally understand what u guys are talking about, thanks for all the info Posted via RS Mobile |

I used to work for a Rogers dealer. It was a pretty good job if you're good at selling and hitting your targets. Money can be pretty good average $2500/month (more at xmas time). I found the best part was the people I worked with. Everyones pretty young and likes to have fun so it was a fun time both during work and out of work.
I worked for CELLCOM, which is one of the biggest strictly rogers dealers. We made base of $1700/month salaray or Commision, whichever was higher. I was at lougheed mall in burnaby. But they have stores all over Canada and in the lower mainland (Lougheed Mall, Coquitlam Centre, Richmond Centre, Oakridge, Surrey, Abbotsford, Langley, Vancouver Island). They treat their employees well (besides the monthly morning meetings in cloverdale) Took all of us vancouver staff to the canucks game in the sports action suite last year for our with open bar and gave away everything from phones to trips to vegas at our xmas party. And rogers throws countless parties throughout the year where you can win free shit.
So I had a pretty good experience with wireless sales but I looked at it as more of a temporary thing. Got too tired of customers coming in a bitching about their bills and shit that we have no control over and can do nothing about. http://www.cellcomwireless.com/
that's their site if you wanna apply.
