Anyone see this really slow moving object that showed up at around 5am? It drifted not in a totally straight line and was up there for about 5-10 minutes. Definitely not a plane or a helicopter.

That would be a satellite. If you go to a place where the sky is really dark, there will be at least one above you somewhere.

was there last night. I saw one of what I thought to be a star starting to move. It moved two little circles to the right and it disappeared off into the space, moving away from earth.

The second, as mentioned is a plane. The first is a satellite, I'm 99% sure. I'll post up when I get home from Squamish. You'll see what a meteor REALLY looks like, caught on camera.

omfg i saw it!!!!
it was 4 o clock when i saw it. was camping up in birkenhead at at the time and i was looking up at the sky and saw this bright white light just move across the sky in silence, definitely not a plane or helicopter and too bright to be a satelite

Alatar 08-15-2010 05:26 PM

Meteor.

Another Meteor. Timing on this one was JUST off, as the exposure ended just as the meteor flashed across the sky. Oh well.

Satellite. Lower right corner.

Just wish I had my remote trigger with me. :(

Yeah!!! It wasn't a satellite either because it was so bright. Everyone there were a bit shocked to see it.

You should point your camera at where the meteors are originating from.

Heard there are more tonight and tomorrow night. Sucks you have to go really far to see it. Dunno if there's any place in Burnaby to see those. Don't think Burnaby Mountain is dark enough.

mercyboy 08-11-2012 09:32 PM

cypress is nice to see it.....going there tonight

Inaii 08-11-2012 09:59 PM

Except everyone and their dog will be up there trying to watch.

holyshit 08-11-2012 10:02 PM

LSF22 08-12-2012 01:04 AM

will be at whytecliff with a few friends to try and catch it.....

tool001 08-12-2012 01:45 AM

just got back from Squamish.. Was quite a view. We were there for about an hour or so. Saw maybe 50-60.

Soundy 08-12-2012 09:17 AM

Pitt Lake is good - not terribly far, the surrounding mountains block a lot of the city light without blocking too much of the sky.

Inaii 08-12-2012 09:30 AM

Went out to Crescent Beach last night, probably not the best place to sit, but we were there for about half an hour and saw 20-30? 2 REALLY bright, huge ones too :) It was pretty cool.

Also got pulled over but the cop let us go because my brother hadn't been drinking, just asked him to get his headlight fixed so he didn't get pulled over again (one headlight motor is toast) :lol

CP.AR 08-12-2012 10:48 AM

supremematt85 08-12-2012 03:19 PM

Is this still happening tonight or did I miss it.

Senna4ever 08-12-2012 03:39 PM

It peaked last night, but tonight should be pretty good, too.
