Every time I see the word "Perseid," I can't help but think of this guy:

My exposures were too long. Managed to capture a couple of meteors but they were darkened by the length I had the shutter open.

Click on the images to see 'em better.

probably going to see it tomorrow or late tonight with my girlfriend if it dries up with the rain today

mcdonald park in abbotsford is a nice place for it, not too far, not busy, and once the park closes at around 10 or so, you can park outside the gate, walk back in and just lie down on the road and you have pretty much the whole sky to yourself. last year saw some super bright ones that go across the whole sky :ahwow:

Vansterdam 08-11-2013 12:55 PM

shit I thought this was on last night and missed out

can someone recommend a good spot thats not to far from the Vancity?

i-vtecyo 08-11-2013 01:01 PM

saw two meteors 2 nights ago. peak is up tonight and tomorrow night. look north east and just pray the clouds will go away.. should be 50-100 meteors per hour tonight starting from 12am to dawn.

McDonald Park or Porteau Cove.

How is the cloud over at Abbotsford? Looking to head out for a couple hours to get a chance to look.

Soundy 08-11-2013 10:17 PM

Contemplating hitting up the lookout at Stave tomorrow night, if the weather clears...

Or a little closer to home, I've gone up to Pitt Lake for meteors before, it's pretty dark there.

Lomac 08-11-2013 10:56 PM

I had originally planned on taking some timelapse shots of the meteor shower tonight (we've been seeing a shit ton over this past week up this way) but now a gigantic electrical storm is raging over the mountains surrounding us. So now we're standing on top of our field, underneath a house with a metal roof, taking photos of lightning strikes. If you never hear from me again, chances are you can figure out what happened. :lol

StylinRed 08-11-2013 11:43 PM

didnt realize there was lightning outside

Matlock 08-11-2013 11:53 PM

Tried Burnaby Mountain. Stupid kids doing doughnuts in the parking lot almost hit me. I was ready to kill someone. :seriously:

One of my old signatures from back in the dialup days...

"Wow, that lightning was really cl$){{.>@$!...
NO CARRIER

i-vtecyo 08-12-2013 12:37 AM

i tried the back ally of international nightmarket since we were at the nightmarket. only got to see 2 meteors with my gf. neck is really sore from looking up and clouds started to move in so we left.. round 2 tmr either at burnaby mountain or vanier park. should be a clear sky tmr.

Why didn't you just shake your cane at them?

3klipze 08-12-2013 11:37 AM

Saw 4 from 2 to 3 am at Cypress Bowl lookout. Bit cloudy, but it cleared up for an hour or so.

Honestly the worst spot. Honger chicks everywhere screaming every time they see one.

Hitting up Abbotsford or Sea to sky/squamish tonight.
