Anybody using Mobilicity yet?

I'm debating whether or not to leave Fido. But unsure of the QUALITY Mobilicity has to offer. Wondering if you users are having dropped calls or bad call quality?

Kamui712 11-24-2010 02:35 AM

I took the dive, cancelled the last year of my Fido plan and switched. I've been on Mobilicity using a HTC HD2 for a couple of days now:

-CSR's are friendly and helpful so far.

-Reception is good when you're outside, but when you're deeper inside a building you're likely to lose reception. Hopefully Mobilicity will be able to address this when they have more towers up and have more $$.

-3g data speeds feels on par with Rogers/Fido. I've read about other people saying it runs like edge but I haven't had that experience. For example, the full page of Gsmarena with flash was loaded in about 3-4 seconds.

-Call quality is good as well, no noticeable difference from Fido.

All in all, I'm happy to have left Fido. I don't have to worry about how much data or minutes I use, I know exactly how much I pay every month, and I have no contracts. :)

Man, 1 Year later and Mobilicity comes out. Why couldn't you come out last year. Now I gotta way 2 years. That 45 dollar + Unlimited data for $10 is so awesome!

Theres a mobilicity tower possibly going up on the property i work on here. its right by surrey/delta border on 128th and 80th. Sadly I live in abbotsford so no mobilicity for me yet..

Gt-R R34 11-24-2010 02:46 PM

I just renewed with Fido. Figure I'd wait another 3 years and see how the smaller carriers mature before I make the switch.

My family has a phone on telus and fido, both wanting to switch to Mobilicity, is it possible to keep the same number after the switch?

Yes. Ask them about number porting.

misteranswer 11-24-2010 09:04 PM

Does anyone know if this $40 deal includes blackberry service?

way2quik 11-24-2010 09:56 PM

Went in today to test out my Nokia N8. I guess Mobilicity fixed their network because I can make calls and use data. Number porting will be done by Mobilicity. The reps stated at least 3 hours before you're able to receive incoming calls. Outgoing calls can still be made.

Gt-R R34 11-25-2010 11:25 PM

taking the leap tomorrow, hope i get a phone that works. LOL

Did they charge you a fee for porting your number?

w00tgasm 11-26-2010 10:51 PM

^ No

Expect to pay one more bill from your previous provider though.

Yea, I hear they try to do that, although it's I think it's completely bullshit considering they are not providing service to you yet charging you.

No, you have to add 5$ on top so it'd be $45

Please note: in order to add BlackBerry Internet Service to your plan you must also have the Data add-on on your plan.

No. But if you bring your own phone over to Mobilicity it is $20 for the SIM card.
