than let me chip in, right now i feel the fines are way too fucking cheap, any joe blow can afford that shit, hence why everyone speeds. Its like throwing out my pocket change to pay those fines, pfff

How about this, 20km above speed limite $350 fine, 21km to 40km $750 fine.

Excessive speed $2500 fine, what you think about that
:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::bullshit:

retards who cant drive motherfucking shit is the no.1 cause of fatalities

i agree completely with this.... the fines are too fucking cheap. we need swedish rules where the fines are calculated based on assets/income.

in sweden a man got fined 1 million dollars for speeding. that should deter any idiot with more money than brains to do anything stupid.

Two Hell's Angels members got their bikes impounded.

Air 1 footage shows Hell’s Angels motorcyclists driving dangerously.

Multiple short on/off ramps before and after the bridge. I would hate to try and merge from Bridgeport onto the bridge when people are doing 120+, there's just not enough space.

In 2 years of taking that bridge daily I have never seen a speed trap on the Richmond side. I think even cops understand speed it not an issue in that area.

Not like this will stop anyone from changing their driving habits.

Iunno, that's what people used to say about seatbelts.
It's a long term culture change i think?

35 years ago, the driver might wear his belt.
20 years ago, the person in the passenger seat might have their belt on, but the people in the back, quite often not.

Now, kids just automatically belt up.
Adults too, it seems like only the newer rebellious immigrants don't belt up.

I think this will eventually take too, the generally public will eventually get that there's a "safe" zone to speed within.

Just like everybody drives at least 60 in a 50 zone, it's pretty much a public norm.
Now I think this will help reinforce the upper limit of that norm.

Sure, there will always be some speeders, but no law would stop those people anyways.

GabAlmighty 10-12-2010 10:48 PM

Strap a dagger facing the driver on everyone's steering wheel. See how many speeders we have after that.

heh, I get pulled over often by stupid young cops trying to tell me shit that isn't even true, just a waste of time.

I was recently going 110 on the highway, in a 80 zone, drove by cops with radar guns and NOTHING, there were about 5 other cars pulled over.

I'm starting to think that now on the highway (highway 1) you're basically allowed to drive 40km over the listed speed limit during rush hour. Like half the cars today were doing 110, like most of the time...

ps, the day the law came in effect, saw some guy on a ninja doing 250+ in a construction zone (highway 1), totally unsuspected. Now THAT is pretty dumb, especially during the day. (but the bike did sound pretty nice ;D)

thats awsome

jzhu365 10-13-2010 09:20 PM

I got pulled for going 91 on hastings. 3 open lanes. and I was slowing down. Luckily my car didnt get towed.

What happens if i dispute the fine on the ticket, cause being a student i really cant afford to pay it.

Redlines_Daily 10-13-2010 09:31 PM

In the article it says the riders got fined for "riding in tandem". I see motorcycle cops doing this ALL the time.

Manic! 10-14-2010 02:07 AM

I was reading the Province newspaper if someone steals your car and gets caught going 40 over the speed limit it your car gets impounded and you have to wait 7 days to get your car back.

That would be pretty fucking bullshit.

Soundy 10-14-2010 06:47 AM

Yeah, I can see all the RSers trying that one: loan a car to your buddy, he gets tagged and your car impounded... going down to the impound yard and telling them "BUT IT WAS STOLEN" ain't gonna fly.

I'd think if it was reported stolen BEFORE it was actually nailed, there would be an exception made...

Would you dare to question a bunch of power tripping cops? I sure wouldn't.They would most definately tell you "we are the cops, were allowed to do it",they act like the law does not apply to them 90% of the time.

I see them doing illegal shit all the time during non emergency situations.

SE Marine yesterday on the way home from work, flow of traffic past a radar trap was 80-85 in a 50. Cop with the gun didn't even flinch, but a whole 5km/h faster and I bet someone would have gotten raped just because they can
