Anyone here have the Bose headphones or the Dr. Dre headphones or any other noise cancellation headphones? I travel for work sometimes and a pair of nice headphones would really help with the flights. Right now I think I'm torn between these two headphones, but I am open to any suggestions. Noise Cancelling is the best thing ever on flights.
I got it pretty cheap at Seattle Premium Outlets for 59.99USD about a year ago.
Bose ones are an investment IMO sound cancellation is amazing on them and absolutely love them. Although in-ear earbuds with noise cancellation would probably be more affordable but comfort isn't for everyone. Just ordered a set of klipsch image s4 earphones supposedly really good especially for the price
I'm not a fan of the sound quality on the monster beats and the gloss plastic looks cheap to me.

i considered both of the headphones you noted, and everyone there rips on bose and the beatsbydre headphones, pretty much
i still havent concluded my search, so i cant give too much opinion.
Go for Sennheiser noise-canceling, my dad has the Bose QC2 and the Sennheiser PXC 310 and the Sennheiser is much better than the Bose. Bose is ok, but way overpriced.

is there a difference between noise isolation and noise canceling?
Noise isolation usually refers to headphones that have physical sound barriers that isolate your ear from outside noise. The barriers are things like the earpads on circumaural headphones, or the silicon/foam tips on IEMs.
Noise cancellation involves the headphone emitting a frequency that will cause destructive interference with the frequency of any consistent ambient noise (bus/plane/train engine, crowds, etc.) and thus "cancel" the ambient noise.
Also, BOSE = Buy Other Sound Equipment . Overpriced to shit. And as mentioned earlier, http://www.head-fi.org is a great resource for headphones.
what about shures? not sure if they make any over the ear ones though
Shures (I'm assuming you're referring to the IEM's) are noise isolating. The plugs block outside sounds. They're OK (I have a set of E2c's) but not so great during take off/landing when the air pressure in the cabin changes. You need to occasionally take them off as the pressure changes and pop your ears otherwise it gets uncomfortable.
As overpriced as Bose are, they are a pretty comfortable set of headphones with fairly decent quality audio. (especially the circumaural pair) There's others out there by Sony, Audio Technica, Sennheiser (and most of the major brands) that you can look into for a lot less.

maybe they'll last longer if you are careful but then again ... everyone on all the review boards think they're careful ~ i didn't like my odds haha
plus i have two friends that bought them and one came broken so he instantly took it in for an exchange ~ another had it snap after three weeks (funny how they both didn't care about the quality and just wanted to exchange for another one ... cause THEY'RE MONSTER BEATS)

oh ... and i wanted to add ~ even tho TO ME the quality is mediocre ... the bass for these headphones were actually quite good but they're definitely not noise canceling headphones and the thing with people writing reviews about them breaking -> exchanging -> breaking -> exchanging -> repeat ...
all of mine are from Sony, got them on staff discount, but they all are very good except the cheapest ones. Any of the mid end stuff served me well. I couldnt tell the difference between mid ($150ish) and high ($400ish) end ones though.

I have the S4s, and I've used Shure e2c's and the Bose in-ears (among other cheap ones). The Klipsch set was the best by a mile. There is a tiny bit of an emphasis on bass, but nothing like the Bose (where the bass was way too overpowering). The Klipsch has a nice balance between mids and lows, and I love them so much that I'll probably be investing in the S5 ruggeds when these break.
For $100 and less, it's hard to find a better set of buds (and countless reviews say the same).
A note about the original topic though: I tried a few sets of noise-cancelling phones (Bose included) and I couldn't get over the high-pitched sound that some emit. Throw in the need for batteries, and I haven't looked back on my decision to get noise-isolating buds. It's worth trying them in store if you can to avoid that.
also theres headphones from Shure, Beyerdynamic, AKG & Grado off the top of my head
I'm on the Beyerdynamic bandwagon right now... I bought the DT990-250 Premiums and while I understand while some people find them sibilant, I love the sound signature and clarity. The thing is, the 990s are open and thus might annoy people in a public environment as well as isolate less than a closed headphone.

I picked up a pair with my phone. For the first few hours they were terrible, after finding the perfect fit they were simply amazing. I'm a huge PVD/AVB fan and these really delivered a tight punch when the beats kicked in. Love the separate metallic mid button and flat 3.5 plug (original apple ones stick out too much) too.
Do note that they have to sit right in your ear thou (like ear plugs), it's akward at first but you will eventually get used to it. It also does a decent job of shutting out noise. Posted via RS Mobile
