holy fuk! i was getting butterflies just watching that video. I would pass out if i was climbing that. Althought base jumping off the top when he was down would be an awesome way to decend!
Pay me a million dollars to get the job done and I still wouldn't be able to do it. Bricks will be shat about 1/10th of the way up and I'd pass out. Props to these guys

unless he gets lucky, i think the wind would probably smash him straight back into the tower, or atleast make him clip it and suffer some horrible injury
Holy shit... I felt like I was going to have an anxiety attack just watching that. A buddy of mine does this for a living, but I didn't realize just how fucking scary it actually was. The amount of respect I have for just how big his balls are has grown substantially. And yes, he does extremely well when it comes to money. As for using a helicopter, they actually do use 'em for some of the shorter towers.
Insane. I could barely watch it to the end. Climbing that shitty little ladder in the wind without being tied to anything? No thanks, buddy. Not for any money in the world.
Man.. free climbing is great and all but what happens when one of the one-sided skinny ass rungs happens to be corroded where it bolts to the pole and just snaps off? Game over. Just like that. It'd make a lot more sense for them to be able to hook a safety line up to the top before they start climbing. Maybe some kind of winching mechanism? It wouldn't be cheap but neither is insuring these guys against death by falling. I bet it'd be comparable.

That video is of a guy doing the climb virtually safety-line free, but they're usually almost always hooked onto the tower unless they're going through one of those awkward transitions. It's not actually as dangerous as the guy in the video made it out to be.
Well yeah what I meant was maybe for these towers where you're forced to go for lengths of time without a safety line because there's just no way to, they should have a small winch at the very top you could bring down to the half-way point where you'd have to free-climb, hook yourself onto it there, and from then on be covered in case something snaps off at the free-climb sections.
Honestly there's no way to tell with those things when it's all exposed to harsh weather like that. It's not like they're using any kind of advanced composite for the skinny one sided rung things - it looks like plain old aluminized steel to me, stainless steel at best =/.

I went up to a cute chick and asked her if she'd let me take a photo of her for $30 she slapped me, she said to me that "I AIN'T A WHORE!"
But other than that I have seen every car on display in DTP just by cruising about in Richmond, thank you very much for collecting them together and get someone to sing a cover for "fuck you".
