I don't think it's a mini series.

This isn't a mini series. They've already been given the green light for a second season after the series premiere aired.

On Tuesday, the network announced that it has renewed its new prohibition-era drama for a second season just one episode out of the can, MediaWeek.com dishes. The show’s $18 million Martin Scorcese-directed pilot garnered 4.8 million viewers on Sunday to become HBO’s most-watched series premiere since Deadwood drew in 5.79 million views on March 24, 2004.

Boardwalk — which stars Steve Buscemi as 1920’s Atlantic City political boss Enoch “Nucky” Thompson — boasted additional plays at 10:15 PM and 11:30 PM, which actually scored 7.1 million total viewers for the night. The series even trumped the series premiere of vampire-themed ratings juggernaut True Blood, which drew just 1.44 million viewers when it debuted in Sept. 2008.

“All the ingredients aligned for this one, from [producers] Mark Wahlberg and Steve Levinson’s initial pitch, to Martin Scorsese’s enormous contributions as director and executive producer, to the genius of [executive producer] Terry Winter and the expertise of [producer] Tim Van Patten, to a stellar cast led by Steve Buscemi,”
HBO’s President of Programming, Michael Lombardo, said in a statement. “The response from the media and our viewers has been nothing short of amazing.”

You guys who like this show should go watch The Wire. I'd wager it's about 1000x better than Boardwalk Empire. That's not an exaggeration either.

boardwalk is still in in character development

i hope some big shit goes down next ep

The Wire is hands down the best show ever!!!

I know so far Boardwalk Empire is moving slow...But they are setting everything up. Battlelines need to be drawn before shit goes down.

The Wire was easily one of the best shoes made, every episode had you hooked, and every scene had little suttle dialog between characters that was so well written and thought out.

Lomac 10-10-2010 01:10 PM

Found some copies of The Wire for cheap at HMV today. Thought of this thread and figured I'd give it a shot. Season 1, here I come!

I'm looking forward to seeing how they're going to pull off the Jimmy storyline in BE. I'm not a big fan of him but considering he's one of the main protagonists, I can't see them killing him off right away.

Give it some time, I'm a big The Wire fan but this could shape up to be a very good show considering the money invested and the people behind it. I'm intrigued as to what they'll do with Capone, and I gotta stick to this since Mad Men only has one ep left, and this season has been bloody fantastic.

Which season of the Wire u like the most? I love Season 3.....Hamsterdam baby.

mikemhg 10-14-2010 03:58 PM

Season 1 was great, as was 3 and 4. Season 2 and 5 were great, but no my favorites.

eclipseman 10-15-2010 11:26 PM

Most of the dramas that HBO creates are all epic.

Sopranos, Entourage, Carnivale, The Wire, Band of Brothers, Boardwalk Empire, OZ...I'm sure there are tons more that I never bothered to watch.

That Bureau agent is freaking messed up in the head.

Best part is when they killed all those guys in the lobby.

rslater 10-25-2010 09:02 PM

So true. That lobby scene was awesome. I think the Bureau guy just shows how Christianity was such a driving force behind prohabition.

Harvey Specter 10-26-2010 12:47 AM

Bureau agent looks creepy as fuck.

Ch28 10-26-2010 03:50 AM

bureau agent and his self flagellation ftl

i thought he was going to rub one out to the picture because he put a towel on the bed :mamoru:

EXV603 10-26-2010 12:08 PM

Last episode was entertaining... looks like the show is starting to pick up.

nns 11-08-2010 08:25 PM

I like how it's heating up. It took 8 episodes, but I'm finally looking forward to a new episode.

I think the writers purposely made Jimmy look incapable before, so that we could see how much he would grow. I want to see Jimmy and his war buddy destory Benny and Corky's crew.

When Chalky pulled out those 2 .45s, it was like "Omar's back!".

Lucy is so ugly. I hope she gets killed.

sliq 11-29-2010 12:49 PM

Anyone know where I can stream this online?

Excellent season finale!

Vinny G 12-05-2010 09:27 PM

So... worth following through with the show? I watched up til episode 9 and literally nothing happened in this show.

nns 09-05-2011 03:56 PM

Sept. 25th, it's back.

strykn 09-25-2011 06:26 PM
