| Hardcoding Subtitles
I searched and came up with nothing, I've googled as well but found nothing useful. What I want to do is hardcode subs onto an avi, windows tells me the video is XVID and the audio is AC3. now is there a simple way to do this? I've tried using VirtualDub but it starts encoding things and giving me a 4GB+ file from a 1.47GB source...
I just want to stick the bloody subtitles on top of the video without changing anything else...

You need to install the vobsub plugin and select your sub file. As well when encoding you need to select the xvid codec so it doesn't dump out a raw avi file. VirtualDub isn't really a beginner type of software. Check www.videohelp.com for more help or all in one programs or walkthroughs.

If you have the .sub or .srt files and the movie in in a .avi container.
I suggest "avi recomp". I used that to hardcode my softsubs so that I could stream them on the PS3 or xbox. The program is like 3 steps and it does it all for you.

Are there different types of XVID?

^ that's one of the tutorials that I tried, to no avail. I just finished using the AVI Recomp that DragonChi suggested and it worked like a charm
