i was 13 and watched Expo Ernie moon walk this ass down 2 flights of steps at the IMAX theater. I had many lulz. the Introduced "New Coke" people were pissed. I had a season's pass, my parents didn't want me at home.

Hondaracer 10-15-2010 04:57 PM

i was born in Vancouver on Vancouver's 100th birthday, got a sweet certificate for it :D

if I have a chance this weekend, I will go up to my parent's place and look through the old photo albums and scan some pics for this thread. I would like to see any pics people have to share.

Expo 86 > Vancouver Olympics. Holy fuck Expo86 was fun - the video game arcades were massive! I still have my season's pass and passport stamps!

I was 6. I remember the IMAX film with the flying red ball that flew over the mountains etc. I remember it being amazing. Also walking over that giant rolling highway with statues of cars and people on it.

Awesome event! Watching the vids it brought back memories of the monorail, log ride, and the crazy ass electric train set!

I wish I was alive to see this.

I am surprised no one has mentioned the mascot EXPO ERNIE. Fireworks every night is what i remember for the time of the fair.

Never been to the floating McDonald's restaurant?

McBarge, they called it. It was large enough that it didn't feel like it was floating in water. It was quite a big deal back then.

I remember a little bit of Expo. I was 6.

I can thank Expo 86 for my parents moving back to BC. We were living in AB at the time (where I was born), came to see Expo and my parents didn't realize how much they missed BC until they came back.

THANK YOU EXPO '86!

I was 4 at the time and only remember some things about it. I do remember I had quite a blast but the details are a bit blurry.

I do know about the mcbarge though, you can see it from the west coast express floating in indian arm.
