I just bought the game and I'm excited to play. Wee~ :D

ForbiddenX 10-24-2010 09:57 AM

Yea it's pretty amazing how much this guy has made, and it's just him. He has no dev team I think, this whole entire game was designed and coded by him. I honestly think he deserves every single penny he's made.

Buying the game now is like a preorder bonus. When the real actual game comes out, we don't have to buy another copy or anything like that. Alpha also means it's still in testing stages, so we're also pretty much testers. A game with almost 500000 testers is pretty good. He'll be able to take all the feedback and make an even better game.

I hope there's a minecraft cloud or something implemented. I play on both my mac and pc and would like to keep making my stuff on both of it.

A 10 player server costs about $8 a month, but I'm not sure if it's going to be reliable. I haven't been able to find any like reputable sites that are hosting them. I checked most of the sites that I rented CS servers from but none have it yet :(

illicitstylz 10-24-2010 10:14 AM

well technically we can all just jump into a public free one and just consistently play there?

Jeremy617 10-24-2010 10:43 AM

i'd chip in a few bucks on a server if we could find a decent host.

edit: actually i may have found one. $14/month on sale for $10

i wouldn't mind picking it up, however i don't know much about linux. Everything i've ever tried to do with linux has been a massive failure.

anyone with experience?

Matlock 10-24-2010 11:07 AM

Wow that just sucked out a crap load of my time. GG

ForbiddenX 10-24-2010 11:14 AM

I know some linux, but I don't think we need it at all to actually run the server. Once the server is up, I think you can do everything in game.

The server i was looking at is just a virtual server running linux. Then we could load up a minecraft server on it. It's 5mbit unmetered or 100mbit with 500gb cap. 5mbit should be enough for 20-25 people.

Wow....so everyone here plays multiplayer? Am I the only one that enjoys single player much more than multiplayer? I find that multiplayer is really boring.

we're talking about multiplayer survival mode, not the one where you just have infinite blocks to build stuff.

I'm also assuming minecarts/redstone will be fixed in multiplayer somewhat soon.

ForbiddenX 10-24-2010 11:42 AM

Oh I didn't know it was an actual server. How much ram does it have? Apparently thats what running a server really relies on since its resource intensive. About 128MB per player on the server.

Should be good though!

woob 10-24-2010 11:55 AM

You can still use redstone for very basic things in multiplayer i.e. triggering TNT in a TNT cannon. The only shitty thing is it's still bugged such that you are unable to see the TNT during its trajectory. You just see shit disappear when it blows up.

ForbiddenX 10-24-2010 12:07 PM

Is there a quicker way to smelt stone? I want to make my castle out of all stone but it takes a long time lol. I've made 4 stacks while watching a movie lols.

edit: lol I didnt know you could leave the furnace...

woob 10-24-2010 12:34 PM

yeah I have a stack of 8 furnaces, put a bunch in each then go do something else.

Fack. I ran into this today:

RE-Jo 10-25-2010 10:36 AM

You guys should check out "X's minecraft videos" on Youtube.

TOS'd 10-26-2010 01:34 AM

Hmmm.....6 hours sure went by fast... LOL wth its 2:30am already!

ForbiddenX 10-26-2010 08:06 AM

Yea I hate when it happens lol. I didn't play yesterday since I had some work to do but when you are playing you don't really know how much time you've been playing for. I don't even pay attention to my computer clock.

Matlock 10-26-2010 12:30 PM

Okay, I think I've played so much that I got bored.

Finally.

TOS'd 10-26-2010 02:03 PM

^ What have you accomplished in game?

Matlock 10-26-2010 06:40 PM

I have built several small castles and a staircase that leads all the way to the indestructible bed rock.

Lol I lied, I'm still addicted and have much more play to do. It's more fun if you build your base in the middle of danger rather than on an island.

^ Make sure you up difficulty level too!

I made my first home in some valley where theres this big mountain i dug into. Every time i exit my door, all the monsters fall down on to me lol.

ForbiddenX 10-26-2010 09:29 PM

I don't think I can really get bored of the game, I'm still doing single player stuff but have controlled myself because of exams this week and next week. I just keep thinking of what I should build next and stuff.

I want to get in on some multiplayer servers and join in on the awesome structures that they build! I've seen servers listed on the minecraft forum trying to recreate middle earth which is pretty awesome. They've done Pokemon too and stuff like that.

I think the biggest the game get is 300,000x300,000 squares until it startes to choke your computer. I may be off a zero or two haha but it's something around there.

TekDragon 10-26-2010 09:34 PM

Had to give up my first game. Dug down into a monsterous cavern (srsly, full of monsters) that was huge. Still fun to play, but still a noob at it.
