Fcking Telus Okay so here is the story. I signed up for Telus TV/Phone/Internet bundle this year in April. At the time I signed up, the sales agent told us that if we were moving to a place where there is no Telus service, then we will not be charged any penalty fee. Now they had a good deal so my parents signed up. Today I called on behalf of them to cancel the package because my parents are moving back to China. The person told us that the policy applies ONLY when you move WITHIN BC or Alberta where there is no Telus service. I thought it was ridiculous because we were never informed such thing. My parents already had a plan to move back to China back in April so if we had known that moving outside Canada does not qualify for penalty exclusion, then we wouldn't have signed any contract with Telus. Now I'm guessing that the sales guy was paid based on commission and this caused him to leave some detail because otherwise we wouldn't have signed up. Have you guys encountered any situation like this? What options did you pursue? Because speaking to some representative on the phone clearly doesn't take me anywhere. |
There is a contract your parents sign or something. Look to see if there anything about it. Beside are planning to never to come back just leave things the way they are. Collections isn't going to call your parents in china. |
Sorry but I think it's just common knowledge to know that when you say move, it means in the province, not internationally. |

Why did you sign a new agreement/service with Telus if you knew you were only going to be with them for 6 or 7 months? |

The only issue here is that at the time, sales guy did not inform us that "moving" is WITHIN BC and Alberta. Seriously, I'm simply asking if anyone knows any options I hadn't thought of to resolve this situation. If you have no idea, don't bother commenting. |
Did your parents sign a contract? The contract should have all the details. I suggest reading it. |
I agree, if they're not planning to move back to Canada I would just leave it. If they are, I would just pay it. What are they looking for? $300? You signed a contract for 3 years, knowing you wouldn't be around for 3 years. Essentially looking for a loop hole to get a deal. It didn't work. Sorry. |
just sell the xbox or laptop u got from them on CL. and pay off ur penelty fees. on a side note  |
Fuck it, the sales guy screwed you, now you screw them. Find a place in BC that doesn't get telus signal, and tell then you are moving there. Rent a mail box and tell them that is your new forwarding address. Posted via RS Mobile |

Ok so I think the easiest method will be for me to transfer it to someone else. I think the deal is pretty damn good if you are certain that you are staying here for another 2 years. I basically need someone to take over the contract starting January 2011. You will have about 2 years and 3 months left. Package includes highspeed internet (Fastest) / basic TV channels (up to 28) / Telus phone. You pay only about $36 after tax for ALL until April, then starting April, everything together for about $90 after tax. I will pay you $300 cash upon transfer. If you are planning to stay in BC, I think this is quite a deal. Let me know, thanks. |
Right. Post your rage against Telus on Revscene. That will most definitely solve your problems. Why didn't we all think of that in the first place? I think the username "fagella" is a lot more suitable for you. |
you're going to give 300 bucks cash to a person who will take over your contract? how much exactly is telus charging you to cancel this plan? ;O |

Next time maybe you should read before posting the typical smartass reply. |

And please don't blame the sales guy. He was doing his job. You were just being a dumbass greedy consumer who did not ask questions. You simply signed on the dot without reading the fine print. Moron. |
call your credit card company and cut them off |
I'm completely at a loss of words due to your stupidity. You should quit bitching like a smartass while ignoring all the facts I stated. I only signed the contract because in the service agreement I signed states nothing about moving "WITHIN" BC or Alberta (I'd be happy to scan you the agreement form so you can see for yourself). Even the sales guy did not mention such policy. How many times do I have to repeat that instead of blindly signing a contract just so I can get some laptop, I actually asked the sales guy all the details believing that he would actually speak the truth? What's wrong with asking someone to take it over? Not a bad deal at all for someone who's staying here. Don't blame the sales guy because he was doing his job? Doing his job of what? Misinforming people? This reminds me of back when energy companies were sending sales guy to get people to sign long-term contract without providing accurate details. Quote:
