If I get someone following too closely I drop to 2nd and burn her right up to 6k. Seeing as how my rings and seals are pretty much shot, it is quite effective in smoking out the dumbass behind me. I'm almost hesitant to do my engine swap as it is so hilarious doing this.

spideyv2 11-22-2010 05:17 PM

yeah it's pretty stupid, but i also cant stand drivers who got 35-40 on a main street when it's clear up a head

Mr.C 11-22-2010 07:57 PM

For what it's worth, if I notice that someone is in a hurry but is not being an asshole (i.e., they come up fast in the rearview mirror, but don't tailgate me), I will let them overtake on the right on a one lane street when it opens up at a light. No sense in being a douche.

MindBomber 11-22-2010 08:11 PM

Courteous drivers are great, makes it way easier to drive when someone lets you pass or gives you room to merge.

cctw 11-22-2010 10:28 PM

ok..i don't really like tailgaiting either...but its a major pet peeve when 2 cars are driving right beside each other and the road in front of them is clear..and i can't pass them from the left or right..

We need to have somethign like this for hwy.
Minimum speed 100km/h on hwy.(drive slower than this and get ticket)
Max speed allowed 100-130km/h.
Anything over 40Km/h of speed limit = Impound/ticket
& most important Keep right unless passing.

But most likely that will never work.. Because vancouver just has horrible drivers... Some people just cant keep pace....

GL driving a minimum of 100km/h during the next few months in the lower mainland

I hate tailgaters as well.

I think 3 seconds at city speeds and 5 seconds at highway speeds is more appropriate. Then again, I'm not going to admit what speeds I think those are.

Amuse 11-23-2010 01:46 AM

I don't like tailgaters.

Here's my solution to send them a message:

What I sometimes do is switch lanes, let them pass me, switch back into my original lane, and tailgate them back.

RevRav 11-23-2010 01:50 AM

J-Chow, I think I need to steal your pics, and post in the where-can-i-get-this-locally thread  jk

!e.lo_ 11-23-2010 04:17 AM

fuck, I get tailgated in a elementary school zone/park zone INFRONT of a police station. like, how fucking retarded can people get?

not to mention, single lane traffic, 50km/h limit, and assholes try to overtake me by crossing double solid yellow onto opposing traffic lane. like wow, go hit a damn lamp-post and die so nobody else on the road is at risk.

I absolutely hate right lane tailgaters as well, they don't get that the left lane is for passing so use it, to pass.

gdoh 11-23-2010 05:46 AM

i hate people who tailgate especially when there are other cars in front of u so even if the person gets in front they will only be one car ahead so whats the difference....leave earlier

some girl was tailgating me on fraser highway and 156 so i just slowed down to 40 from 70 =] then when she try to pass speed up

or go slow down to speed limit then when light turns yellow go through it and watch the person sit at the red

If you really want to piss them off, while you tailgating them back start taking pictures of their car. It'll trip them out, guaranteed.

OTG-ZR2 11-23-2010 11:16 AM

I hate getting tailgated at night on the Highway which is 2 lanes and once and a while some asshole will ride my bumper when there is NO ONE else on the road, and the left lane is clear. WTF

gdoh 11-23-2010 11:20 AM

i like Alberta (well calgary area) people will move over if u want to pass them and ur both in the fast lane

bloodmack 11-23-2010 12:09 PM

op needs to pull the tampon out of his ass. Theres always been a tailgating problem, complaining about it isn't going to fix it.

MindBomber 11-23-2010 01:14 PM

Maybe if people began realizing how dangerous tailgating is, they would start leaving proper following distances. I was almost killed on the highway yesterday by a tailgating semi, people need a reminder how important following distances with winter coming.

Also, I started this thread after a severe road rage incident in the middle of highway 10 where another driver got out of his car and started yelling, because I brake checked. I was venting a bit.

There are always people who dont abide by rules or at least follow a more respectable driving routine. Complaining here on a forum of people who already know how dangerous it is, isn't going to help.

Saying you'll brake check the guy doesn't do anything ethier. If the driver avoids your brake check, they will react and I can tell you now last time I had some prick brake check me he got into an accident with my fist.

MindBomber 11-23-2010 01:45 PM

Ahh so you like tail gating people and then get upset when your confronted about it lol.

Now I understand why you don't agree with everyone else in this thread.

Where did I say I like tailgating? I've had people cut me off and all of a sudden brake check because they're too stupid to realize there wasn't enough room. You need to read posts a little more throughly..

edit: you sure do like that fail button.

MindBomber 11-23-2010 04:35 PM

You didn't specify the circumstances of someone brake checking you, but this is a thread about tailgating and brake checking tailgaters so one would naturally assume thats what you were referring to. If you had been clear that someone cut you off and then hit the brakes, then I wouldn't have failed your post; I would have pointed out thats another annoying habit some BC drivers seem to have.

Why would you go around failing all my posts, grow up.

Mugen EvOlutioN 11-23-2010 04:50 PM

becuz failing ppl is fun, thanking isnt

1exotic 11-23-2010 04:53 PM

the message here is,

tailgating people in the right lane is not allowed if they are going the speed limit.
tailgating people in the left lane is always allowed, if you are blocking someone in the left, move the fuck over bitch.

MindBomber 11-23-2010 04:55 PM

Yes, thank you. That was the point I was trying to make originally.

Failing is more entertaining than thanking I guess, but I don't like having tons of fails for no reason though, maybe I'm to sensitive.
