Everyone tends to forget (or are ignorant) about how bad the first couple seasons of the reborn UK Top Gear were...

This is not bad, the chemistry needs some work, but from their current interviews on the blogs it seems to be pretty good.

Good interview with the three, but some spoilers about the shows here:

hk20000 11-24-2010 07:20 PM

Well it's not a spoiler if there's a link for the whole show in its whole up in the original post.

seakrait 11-24-2010 08:30 PM

i can't find a future episode on the PVR. is there an upcoming episode?

deep87 11-29-2010 01:25 PM

episode 2: http://www.streetfire.net/video/top-gear-se-1-ep-2_2092026.htm
better then the first but they really need to change the presenters. Matt Farah would be my pick. They're already as good as fifth gear...

ilvtofu 11-29-2010 02:04 PM

I dont think they should be testing/doing challenges on public roads where there could be people walking. Seriously who produces this program?

I have to say though The brian challenge really impressed me

i fell asleep, they just can't segue well or anything...

deep87 11-29-2010 02:34 PM

^Lol, they didn't even bother to close the road and Tanner was like," A propane truck, highly explosive!...I could be flying right now"

"He prolly got picked on as a kid so he drives the biggest truck and puts stickers on it so nobody passes him" ?! WTF are they that dumb?

jstn86 11-29-2010 03:22 PM

WELL.... at least they are trying...

but yeah, that still sucked. i fell asleep as well lol

Top Gear UK does challenges on public roads all the time. I don't see the problem.

hk20000 11-29-2010 04:18 PM

hahaha the SX4 handles way too well for a reasonably priced car that it looks boring from outside.

Pretty sure it goes faster than the Lucetti too lol.

LOL Nash took a pee in the dead center of the stage.

d1 11-29-2010 06:59 PM

The guy testing the aston sounds like an idiot. "The car only does 180mph but the speedometer goes up to 220. Brits are liars, wah."

yea drifting on a public road with blind corners after mentioning that its busy on the mountain with skiiers. it kinda put me off a bit.

I drove one for a month as a loaner. Surprisingly fun car to drive.

Did you even watch the video? Top gear UK doesn't rip past a tour bus in a parking lot with people walking around. That was hugely irresponsible, If you think that's appropriate then you should probably go get your brain checked. I don't think I've ever seen top gear UK put the public's lives at risk like that, you must've been watching a different program.

ae101 12-03-2010 05:40 AM

top gear uk only put EACH OTHER at risks not public, tanner & the skiers were just way to friendly with each other but seriously u must admit that tanners drive in the evo was pretty good but after that i think i fell asleep dun think i anything after that

Ronin 12-03-2010 05:48 AM

The production quality is there. They aren't being cheap.

But yes, the hosts are boring.

That being said, give them some time. Chemistry doesn't happen overnight. I bet most of you have never seen season one of the current format of Top Gear. I bet most of you started watching when the series became available widespread on the net in S3 or S4 when the show was starting to get really, really good...right around the time they did their first race with the DB9 and the bullet train.

In season 1, they had some guy rather than James May and he was terrible. Even in season 2 when May joined, they weren't amazing. They were better than the Top Gear US hosts are now but they certainly weren't what they are now.

Give the US hosts some time. They're boring now but they might get better. I'll give them two seasons before I stop watching.

Their only advantage, I think, is that they have a guy that can SERIOUSLY drive a car. Clarkson, Hammond and May are all capable but they're all old and out of shape. It's too bad that drifting guy has the personality of cardboard. Only the guy with the glasses looks like he might be entertaining right now.

ae101 12-03-2010 06:50 AM

u mean jason dawe (i watch them back in 2002 when shaw had free bbc), & i can't believe that the funniest person is not adam cuz hes a comedian

other then that the show needs a bit of work when it comes to the joke cuz when they intro the stig its boring, i wish they use the line "some say" with the end "all we know is hes called the stig"

word

i watched every season of Topgear UK and it was pretty lame and embarrasing to watch some of their earlier episodes.

i think everyone has high expectations from the current Topgear UK and anything short of the expectation results in failure.

it's boring but i will keep watching topgear USA for now.

here is a good indepth interview with the three hosts. they seem like they have a solid chemistry off the set. just need to use that on set and make it work for the show.

So far the show for me is OK, not as terrible as I thought It would be but not all that great either. All in all, its just a holdover for me til top gear UK returns.

You should rewatch it yourself and think about it a bit. They just did some video editing and acting to make it seem like they ripped it past the tour bus in an attempt to make video more exciting.
In reality, it is just the film truck he is passing.
Any time you see other cars or pedestrians by him, he is driving at an appropriate speed.
For all the high speed runs, I'm sure they had the road cleared.

FN-2199 12-03-2010 09:11 AM

Everybody is bitching on how bad and boring the show and the hosts are. Give it time. You're all very used to how Top Gear UK is being presented thus far, and are pretty much bored with USA. This one just started, so give it time to sprout.

MindBomber 12-03-2010 11:52 AM

Anything UK is better than anything US..

I'm just going to wait for Top Gear UK.
