| Best Boxing Day sales on TVs?
I'm thinking of picking up a decent 42" this Boxing Day, wondering which places typically have the best deals on them (looking at the last couple years). I know Future Shop would be a decent one, but any other good competitors with some good deals?

visions on imperial..and if you have a buying history with them sometimes they'll even pricematch boxing day prices to show good customer service.

When I was a kid (late 80s and early 90s), Boxing Day used to be a good time to buy electronics as you could get stuff that was marked down over 50%. That was when A&B Sound was still king around here. I digress...
Anyway, you don't necessarily have to wait until Boxing Day to get the best deal on a TV. You should first settle on a price range and type of TV you want. Second, you should take the time to browse the Hot Deals forum on Red Flag Deals for the next 2-3 weeks to get a sense of what TVs are going for. Once you narrow your choices to a couple of models, do a search on them on that forum to see what the lowest price on them was. If you don't find anything cheaper, then check out the Boxing Week flyers and compare.
If you are going to pull the trigger during Boxing Day, book a day off on Christmas Eve and be prepared to have several screens open at FS/BB/Visions, etc. Their websites crash as a result of the traffic.

The only real good deals are usually the door crashers, once those are gone, everything is just on regular "sale" price.
Boxing day is only really beneficial for people that just wanna go in and out and not haggle. You can easily get pricing cheaper than boxing day prices (aside from door crashers) if you don't mind shopping around and getting the deal.
It's best to buy during slow season because they're desperate for sales.

How many days do the Boxing Day Sales last? I know Futureshop has extended it's price match policy till Jan. 2, but they won't do price match on the 26 and 27.

Hold on, let me hop in my time machine.
Costco has the best return policy, and automatically doubles warranty.
Visions will probably have the craziest door crashers, if you feel like lining up a day prior.
Bestbuy/Futureshop will also have some good deals, but also in the doorcrasher criteria.

I see that the Bay is having a one day sale on the Sony Bravia 40ex500 for $689 while BB has it on sale this week for $699.
But openbox has the bigger and newer 46ex501 for $649. How good is www.openbox.ca?
Anyone here ever bought from them or have tried to get after sales service?

wow, openbox.ca has some really good deals on TVs. The sony ex500 46" is dirt cheap.
Actually I just talked to a friend and he bought 3 TVs from there. He said that you can even test it out there if you are worried. His TVs are working perfectly fine.
The ex701 and the hx701 is also a super good deal.

Reports are Christmas spending will be down, so Jan/Feb will be even worse for retailers who didn't meet Christmas sales targets. I expect to see tons of good deals next year.
