so what ever happened to mobilicity rolling out ICS for us? I remember it was rolled out to some, then it stopped to iron out bugs...and then i haven't heard a thing since...are we still going to get it OTA or are we forced to root & install it ourself?

I think the official 4.0.4 update is not out for the Nexus S yet that's why there's still no OTA.

Plus I'm sure you can try to force an OTA search by dialing *#*#682#*#* in your dialpad.

Also, if I needed to flash a custom rom then that defeats the purpose of buying a Nexus phone.

Exactly, if you are already running a a custom rom why do you care that they aren't supporting the Nexus S? You're pissed off because of the battery draining issues/other bugs not because they are not supporting ICS through OTA updates... When I had the Nexus S it got me through the day with no problem. If you're not getting through the day maybe try adjusting your usage habits such as turning off wifi/data/3G when not in use? Or just flash a different kernel or rom.
Your last point is also not true because rarely do people choose the Nexus phones because they want to have the newest stock rom (at least that's not why I got it). I want a pure google experience without skins such as TouchWiz/Sense that is converted into a custom rom so I can have the best of both worlds: clean look + customizability, so I run a slimmed down version of the stock ICS with custom settings here and there. Also, the Nexus devices not only get the OTA updates first but also have the source codes released for them first. So there will be Galaxy Nexus Jellybean custom roms before, say the HTC One series. Therefore, it's a win win for both stock and rooted Nexus users.

Oh boy! There's so much false information in your response. I don't even know where to begin. Quote:

Hence, I, along with many others are hoping that 4.0.5 will be released soon as it's rumored that it will address the BATTERY DRAIN issue.
Look here for your list of complaints.. Google Groups Quote:

| If only it was that simple, I wouldn't be venting my frustration here if it was simply just an easy fix. I've tried practically every 4.0.3 custom rom and ICS kernel along with adjusting various settings, yet it still couldn't fix the problem. My on-screen time is 2 hours, and my battery lasts me for 10 hours. All I do is basic text/email. Hardly a heavy user. At the end of the day, the problems lies with 4.0.3, a custom rom won't FIX IT, because a custom rom is built ON TOP of a stock rom. Get it? Quote:

| You're right, people do buy Nexus phones for the PURE GOOGLE EXPERIENCE, and right now that experience sucks because Samsung, LG, HTC, are all rolling out updates faster than the "Pure Google" experience to address their own software issues, and yes they have their own respective custom skins. We wouldn't need nor demand for the LATEST update from stock 4.0.3 if it wasn't so buggy. This bug is a major nuisance. There's many users, including myself, that's affected. Just because you're immune from it doesn't mean we can't voice our demand for a solution, considering that this phone has only been out for a little over a year. Google has failed to deliver time after time.
1. ICS 4.0.3 for Nexus S was released in December, then the update was halted, knowing that it was faulty, they have YET to release a new update to fix the current batch of stock Nexus S 4.0.3 phones. It's THREE months now.
2. When the update was halted, there was NO formal acknowledgement of this issue, and a timeline was not given for a solution. Take a page out of Apple, Android. At least they know to admit when they are at fault and a fix is release in a timely manner (THINK battery drain bug for the iPhone 4S upon the release of iOS5, shit was acknowledged and fixed in a month).
3. Nexus One was announced that it WILL NOT be upgraded to ICS. The announcement was made WAY BEFORE it's 2 year life cycle. On the other hand, the iPhone 3GS is still supported as of today. Currently, almost THREE years into it's product lifecycle.
If this is the Pure Google Experience that Google was striving for. I rather not have it and become an iSheep.

Ah, sorry I didn't understand your frustration at first. Thought you were just whining because the Nexus S didn't ge the OTA update. I read through that complaint group and found this: Progressio Tech Blog: Nexus S ICS Battery Drain Issue - Solved?!
He seems to have fixed it and is getting past 24 hours. Others are also reporting that turning GPS and all location services will help extend the battery life to 1 day. Have you tried those options before? Check it out and report back!

Although if you can find a way to read and write your HID card to your phone, then why wouldn't you read and write everyone's credit card information too? CC these days uses RFID too. Go to a place with lots of ppl (ie a club) and come out being the best CC fraud specialist in the GVRD.
