I haven't been to kam do in a while, but I found theirs to be strongest, just imo.

Agreed with the rest: lido, deer garden are pretty good as well, in terms of milk tea and not bubble tea.

Yeah I like that even the average places will have good drinks. As long as it's not a chain (typically - some are OK) and ultra ghetto, it's all good

That's why I could only really pick out one that stands out. On average they're all good

Okay, since it was mentioned.... where can you get really good egg tarts?
The best ones I've ever had were at the Kirin Seafood Restaurant, where they don't have them on the menu and you have to be a lucky patron in the restaurant when they are passing around trays of them until they are sold out..... I LOVE EGG TARTS!!!
So if anyone knows any really good ones that are a regular menu item somewhere, I'd appreciate the info!!

L&G Bubble Tea on Fraser.
Get the Milk Tea Slush
It's $3 with or without pearls and should be on the sign at the counter.

I'm with you on Kirin. Totally choked when I can't get my fix.

The ones at Fortune House are pretty close, but the crust isn't exactly the same

My gf's parents and their friends all seem to be enamoured with Anna's. I am not a fan of the crumbly type of crust, so I don't like them at all.

I LOL'd at this one. Not because I thought you were on crack, but because it's one of my go-to places for milk tea but I couldn't bring myself to say so here For milk tea it's this place (with pudding and malt) or straight cold from a stall in the Aberdeen food court (they're almost all the same to me). Usually the one with the good wings/squid/soup, beside Cafe D-Lite, since I usually get it with wings and squid lol.

If you're thinking Kam Mun (beside what was Fair Market, now Buy-Low), they've seriously gone downhill. 3 years ago when I moved across from them they were the best egg tart in the city for sure.

3 years later and multiple chances given, they've become undercooked and soggy. Not what they used to be

tried mambo cafe today and it was a bit strong/sweet for my liking. For the Aberdeen food court I'd probably stick with Wu Fung Dessert's milk tea.

It's really close to milk tea…but try the place beside Richmond Sushi. It is a Taiwanese restaurant…

Jasmine Tea + Whip Cream (mix the whip cream in…it taste similar to milk tea but doesn't have the powdery taste to it)

My thoughts EXACTLY ... just got back from HK a couple weeks ago ... and I've been spoiled rotten!
I will no longer have milk tea (and egg tarts) in Vancouver, the egg tarts in HK were so creamy, smooth and aromatic! I didn't even know they could be made like that! The ones in Vancouver don't even compare, they taste like week old jello...

I miss HK milk tea and egg tarts so much ...

So far Lido comes the closest IMO, and if you're lucky ...grab an egg tart fresh from the oven. its pretty close to a sub par one in hk

IMO the places that serve the 'wheat germ' milk teas usually just use instant cereal. We have a bottle of wheat germ at home and I can tell you they have a more distinct taste than what we are served.

something like this

Lido and Angel Cafe are my picks when I head over there for a HK breakfast.

When I was in chinatown in NYC, their milk tea was Lipton tea bag with lots of evaporated milk in a paper cup at a bakery shop. completely different. but it was $0.80 a cup
