yeah i understand where all of you guys are coming from, and really it was my bad that I did not mention it.

However, I assumed they were able to look the transaction up on the computer and be able to reprint a receipt. I've worked retail for a better part of my life and that is what I've done for customer's that has lost their receipts.

By the way, I was pulled aside the moment the manager came, I was not even told how much I'd be getting back.

Can you imagine all the traffic they get everyday? Especially during peak retail season. Looking through the system, without knowing EXACTLY what to look for would take so much time it is impossible. And its not like they would have your name and things in the system to make it easy to pull up the old transaction

If you had told the cashier right away that it was an employee sale, and that your friend helped you buy it, then YES, they probably could have pulled up the recipt....but the fact is you didn't, he didn't mention ANYTHING about it being an employee sale, or even where you bought it from for that matter, how do you expect a retailer to pull up a recipt just based on an item. Your not the only person that bought a pair of lebron 7s.

In addition, I notcied you referenced sportchek's no recipt refund policy, but keep in mind that is for regular customers NOT employee purchases. When you make an employee purchase there is a totally different set of procedure that needs to be followed. I understand that you may not know this as you don't work for them, but you should have consulted your friend prior to coming in.

how do you expect to return something without being questioned if you dont have a receipt?

for the last time,

i would not of cared if they did not let me return the item. If they said "sorry sir, you can not return your purchase because you do not have a receipt" I would of just thanked them, and left.

Not every store has a customer data base, and even if they do, not all employees are diligent enough to ask you to join their database or ask for your information before you make the purchase.

Don't quote me on this line, but for every certain size, colour and style, there is a certain SKU number so for example all red, size 8 nike shox will have the same SKU, so when you're trying to look up a purchase for that specific product, it might be impossible and if it is possible, it will take a while to sift through all of the transactions of that product looking for your particular purchase.

I work retail and anytime people walk in without a receipt and try to return/ exchange things it raises a flag immediately with all sales staff.

However the store is wrong in keeping your shoes and full of BS when they say you can be charged for fraud.

And once again, you asked the cashier if you can make a no recipt refund, not if you could make a no recipt EMPLOYEE refund.....its 1 word, but it changes the whole thing.

The cashier said it is possible based on the assumption that you wanted to do a no-recipt regular refund.

if you are really upset about how the manager reacted, seems like that's what you are emphasizing on, take that 60 dollars, get a cheap lawyer with a fake license or something and sue him

Reason I am returning it is because I just bought the new lebron 8's which were are amazing.

Anyways,

On the way to the gym, I figured hey why not, I'll just stop by sports chek to see if I could return these shoes without a receipt since it's on the way and the shoes were still unopened in the box, in my car.

I went in, asked the girl if it's possible to return the shoes and she said yeah it is. She got the manager over. At this point I was thinking maybe she needed him to confirm the transaction. The manager pulled me aside and told me these were high end items (lol) and that they get stolen a lot so they needed to keep the shoes to put under investigation. They get my info so I can pick it up next day. At this point I lost it because I thought this would take no more than a few minutes. So I argued with the manager saying I already bought new editions, i just want to return it now for how much i bought it for. I mentioned I got it from my friend who works there for staff discount so he can confirm it.

The problem was, it slipped my mind that when I returned it, they would be giving me the full price of the item back, not the staff discount price. I assumed though, it would of been all in the computer and they would of seen the transaction take place.

So long story short, the manager thought I was scamming the place by trying to return the shoes for full price. I would of scored huge by getting away with... what $60? more than I paid for... in FUCKING GIFT CARDS LOL and on top of that I am now under investigation and potentially charged for attempted fraud.

I was held under my free will in the store, waiting for a good 30 minutes. I got my friend to call the store after and they said I was being hostile as well. I just want my fucking money I paid for it back and I think this situation is completely horse shit.

Are they breaking any rules or is this seriously protocol?

no receipt

lol, I don't understand why people try to return things without receipts.
I would think it's just pure common sense.

xtacy777, you still dont get what you have done wrong?

first thing first, its not about refusing the refund and just simply say byebye to u. imagine you are the manager and your store got a bunch of these shoes stolen before. would you be suspicious on this guy with no receipt? and while u got him, why not do a inventory check instead of letting a "possible theif" go and do the stock count after? to be a store manager, u gotta protect ur company...what if this "possible theif" gets turned down at my store and goes try another store later? you dont think it cost them anything to get the staffs to do inventory count and checking this and that? they could have used all these wasted time on opening another cashier line, restocking items on the shelves, serving other potential customers and etc., instead of dealing with you, some guy who is not giving them a sale and asking for money back? (how would they know if you were a real customer when you bought the shoes?) you get what i mean?

and about ur lebron 8....wtf knows u got another pair of shoes and stuff? and even if u have told the manager about ur extra pair of shoes story...thats only what u say, why did the manager have to believe in you, especially when you did not even have a proof of purchase?

like you said, the girl at the counter said it's possible to to return the shoes...and obviously she is going through the normal no-receipt-refund procedure by asking for MOD approval. so yes, it is still possible to return the shoes, just that you have to go through all these regular procedures BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE A RECEIPT.

now tell me, what would u do if you were the store manager and some random dude just walks into ur store like that? would you have done anything diff? probably not. now you are laughing at them for calling these shoes high end items and blah blah blah...but when you run a store, you will realize how much shit gets stolen every single day.

in conclusion, you are stupid.
