The soft launch was probably like those stock market scams where they get people to buy into something creating false interest and making the stock rise without a legitimate reason.

They needed a "customer" base to actually apply to companies to get deals "Look how many people we have that we will be providing your free advertising for if you give us a deal on it."

It's understandable and to be honest if they needed X amount of users to be a viable "company" like this then no harm done. They haven't asked for anything other than your mail address and some Picture tagging here and there. If they didn't reach enough people to make this a viable entity then it is US who kind of failed. They were out there promoting their site and their business and even paying to advertise and paying people to appear and promote for them. So I don't think it's a scam in the sense of the word as perhaps just a failed venture thus far.

However if they were indeed faking prizes and giveaways and rigging winners that falls into the bullshit category and I will be one of the many who will turn my back on them.

then again they could SOMEHOW use ur personal information from the facebook signups and email address for identity theft/scam purposes am i right?

I dunno could they? I have no idea how that works. I've heard rumors lately of it but really how does a Facebook page and email address equate to identity theft?

i presume once you click "like" on a facebook page it allows the person to access your profile with all your information and such

if that dosent work the OP could always sell all our email addresses to those giant spam companies
