6 Speed Swap Hey guys, I have a 2005 honda accord coupe v6 Automatic. The tranny doesn't shift as well as it is suppose to anymore, Wondering if anyone know a shop that can do a proper 6 speed swap on these cars. |
wouldnt it be easier to just trade in for the 6 speed v6? since the tranny swap may effect the resale value etc? |
Lol, that's gonna cost you a lot. |
I know people who have done it.. it's expensive, you're gonna have a hard time getting rid of the car.. up to you.. but personally I don't think it's worth it.. |
It's almost impossible to sell a manual Accord, my friend has one that came with a manual from the factory and the dealer sold it to him at a 5k loss because it had been sitting on the lot for over a year. I would start with a couple ATF changes and go from there, sometimes new fluid can save a trans.. |

try some amsoil syn ATF, if the problem still consists than you really do have an issue |
Persists.... Just sayin'. Berz out. |
OP: With Accordv6 AT, adding a tranny cooler does wonder for the longetivity of the transmission. Try B&M tranny cooler from Lordco, mines from ComptechSport and it works great. Now with 6 speed tranny swap, it is workable. Check out v6performance.net, many v6 gurus willing to help. I dont see how 6speed v6 were hard to sell back in the day, they were limited in production but IMO, they were a great combo. Add a SC then its completed. Cheers! Posted via RS Mobile |
Don't be ridiculous. Unless you're some insanely rich person, by all means do so. But you wouldn't be driving an Accord if you were. Like someone said before, change the ATF fluids and see how it goes from there. If you even know how to drive stick, trade your car for something that is manual and go from there. A conversion from automatic to stick isn't the brightest idea on the get go. Good luck. |

how much does the tranny cooler cost? where did you get it install at? Quote:

considering it is an automatic, im surprised it didnt come with a tranny cooler from factory. |
Off the top of my head, B&M tranny cooler are $100-$200... Dont quote me on that cause prices may be different when I started modding in 1999. But my Comptech Tranny Cooler came with my SuperCharger. Any mechanic can install for you... Its not difficult. I know someones who has above-average income, great career and has money to support family and still mods his Accord. :) But hey, thats him though. Posted via RS Mobile |

You could also install a external fluid filter to trans, but if its already slipping it won't help much. |

lots of trucks do though. |

you're gonna need a new tranny or rebuild in that year and model...i was thinkin bout 6speed swap also but have to find the right parts is a bitch and not to mention the difficulty swapping the tranny, wiring etc... I've asked around from guys who did it to theirs. Its not worth it if you're gonna end up selling the car later on. If tranny does die on you, its cheaper to rebuild. If you some how find a person who can do it for a good price lemme know! |
If you want to convert your 7th gen accord to manual it won't be as much as some people think as 7th gens actually have them. The 7th gen v6 6-speed is a rare car. However that 6 speed is the same as in tl as well thus being slightly easier to find. The tranny will prob cost you around 2-4k depending on milage then you'll need the ecu from a 6-speed v6 accord. This will cost you, get it from the states. There's guys on v6p selling it for 1k with cluster which you need. After that get the pedal assembly and shifter parts and done. I got a quote to do a CL type-s swap w/ 6-speed w/lsd for 8k on my 6th gen accord. Posted via RS Mobile |
