prices in BC are generally higher because we have stiff carbon taxes included in the price of fuel

That 100 bucks covers 4 weeks worth of gas. If you live in richmond and rarely go out that is. Other than that it would prob last you 2 weeks tops on regular too. Anything higher its 1 and a half week?

Oil is over $90 a barrel, so gas prices will creep higher.

The increase in gas has cost me ~10% on ~$1500/yr, so $150 if this continues for an entire year. The resource funds in my portfolio are up $5K in the past few months. You do the math.

Thus if you want to protect yourself from higher gas prices, bet with them and invest. Bring on higher oil prices!

That isn't quite correct. If you're gonna compare it like that you need to calculate how much $100 covers for the difference in the gas price between us and provinces with no carbon tax.

Because eventually people realized that complaining does squat?

Because Gas will be 1.50 cents for regular in the summer. :)

I know this isn't the case on the west coast of the USA - but on the East Coast, there are a million toll highways and bridges. Their gas may be cheaper, but it costs a whole lot more to be driving on the roads. The tax on our gas helps pay to build and maintain our roads (Plus the transit tax, but that's a whole other box of worms)

skyxx 01-20-2011 02:38 PM

^Shhh don't talk about transit tax, people will go ape shit here.

:inoutugh:

It's all part of BP's plan. Spill oil. Jack up prices. Profit!

spideyv2 01-20-2011 04:54 PM

1.50 a litre? for fucksakes, time to invest in a 4 cylinder

its supposed to be an equalization payment, not a "here's $100 to buy gas with for the rest of your life" cheque

its intent is to punish people who use alot of fuel and reward those who don't

point roberts w00t

but yeah... blame our taxes + the fact that prices go up easily but takes forever to come down (especially when it's a necessity)

Toronto is like paying 1 buck per liter

i was in toronto last summer, gas was like .97

HondaGuy 01-21-2011 01:14 AM

Read online reports that gas this summer should be a lot higher than 1.50... (Property Tax going up too for any homeowners)
Damn, that means chevron 94 will be like $2 or close enough.

I always wondered if Chevron 94 was gone (god forbid)...which station would have just as good gas with no ethanol? Shell?

Thx

kyoshiro 01-21-2011 09:27 AM

black gold as oil was called
but 4 cylinder not good enough, u need a 4 cylinder with TURBO

tool001 01-21-2011 09:48 AM

Skyline350gt 01-21-2011 09:59 AM

Coming from a 1.6 to a 3.5L, I seem to putting in 20 dollars every 2 days.

and 25 dollars on 91 octane only puts a quarter mark on the gauge.

I can't imagine the turbos cars and the trucks out there =S
