As a lotto retailer I have never hard of that, and how does your CC company know what you are exactly buying? Credit card statements only show the name of the business you bought from not what you bought from them.

Some places do this because they only make 5% from sales and then ccredit card companies take of chunk of that. Alter all expenses the might not even break even.

^It's not that we don't have the money.. at least I hope not.
For me, I just buy everything with a credit card for the points. Even if its a $2 cup of coffee.
As for this lottery business, I've always bought my tickets with my credit card but have never noticed any additional charges.. maybe I should buy one this week and keep a closer eye out on my statement.
