For a good laugh, go back and read the original iPad thread. Offical iPad Thread
Although, if you were one of the haters you might not want to go back and see how wrong you were. iFail. iCrap. It'll never sell. The HP Slate/Asus Eee/Whatever is an iPad killer that'll steal all Apple's sales. The iPad is only slightly better than a stone tablet. And so on.

!LittleDragon, why not wait a couple months? With all the new tablets there's going to be some smoking deals on existing ones. Did you need one that quickly?

What bugs you about iOS? | I'm not complaining about it because the device lets me replace the rom. Only takes a few mins and you have something way better than Viewsonic originally put out. Even if you don't want to replace the rom, you can install a new launcher and customize to your liking.
I'm not a fan of iOS for several reasons...
- Lack of customization. Even with a jailbroken iphone, there's only so much you can do
- Lack of widgets... has to do with the lack of customization. The interface really resembles that of an old colour Palm Pilot.
- iTunes.... Why did I have to install this just to activate the phone? Why is everything tied to it? Something that should be easy like custom ringtones can't be done without iTunes
-Multitasking doesn't work well and doesn't always work
Those are major issues I've had from using my iPhone 4 for 2 weeks. I got the thing for free through Fido and the original plan was to sell it for a top of the line Android but while I was trying to sell it, my Milestone crapped out so I decided to crack open the iPhone and use it. After 2 weeks, I was frustrated to the point that I switched back to my WinMo phone for the 3rd week til my Milestone was fixed. I just use the iPhone as a travel phone now.

And so on. | I travel a lot so I see PLENTY of people with iPads on the airplanes and airports. I always glance over their shoulder to see what they are doing.
From recent memory.
1. A guy was plugged into the iPad w/ headphones listening to music, (GLee Soundtrack to be specific) and looking at the album art, flipping back to the play list, switching songs, switcing back, looking at the album art, rotating the iPad to see the album art flip, back to the play list, adjusting the volume with his finger on the slidy volume button. He did they on his iPad for about 5minutes I was observing him on the plane. Everytime he flipped the iPad to see the album art flip he would do it with this deliberate gesture like "look at me! i have an iPad and the screen flips when I turn the thing!!!!!!!"
It was bloody hilarious.
2. Another guy was reading his email, then going back to home, browsing through his apps, then back to his email, then back to home screen, looking at his folders of apps, browsing more email. Did this aimlessly for a few minutes.
3. A guy playing Sudoku
4. A woman playing angry birds
5. A guy playing angry birds
6. A guy browsing CNN.
This is why the iPad is a fail, even though people buy them. An expensive piece of equipment wasted on doing menial, trivial things, that would be far more efficient on a laptop or iPhone.
Maybe one day, when the iPad runs full OSX, and as powerful as a computer, and that it can truly portable computer, that's when we can hail it a success and a useful too.
Currently it is a glorified iPod touch, and a toy. And really, for the price, get a laptop, a piece of machinery where you can actually do some work. I wish I was rich so I could buy one of these to play with when I'm taking a dump.

I see people travelling playing Solitaire on their laptop. Doesn't make laptops useless, even if the person is doing something trivial.
You might not think a tablet is useful, but I can think of several ways in which a tablet would allow me to get more work done each day, which is why I'm buying one soon.

i wouldnt buy an ipad to replace a laptop, id buy one to use in place of a laptop for those little menial things like web browsing and email etc, which is what its actual purpose is. laptops usually get to hot or are too heavy to actually keep in your lap while your on the couch, plus most have a very shitty battery life.

its like cars. theres the small community that likes to mod their cars and ones that can care less about their cars. ones that buy bmw's and benz's just for looks and not what manufactures built them for. there are lg's that drive m3's and can care less about the car. do you think they bought the car for the performance? i doubt half of them did. you probably saw the large population of the people that can care less about thier ipads. the rest of the people that mod their ipad, you have no idea how much we actually use them.
i have both the iphone 4 and the ipad also. the ipad can do more things than the iphone for sure. i actually prefer browsing website on the ipad over a computer/laptop and even the iphone. sure it might be a pain in the ass to carry around, but i only use my laptop for school and the ipad can achieve all my needs. i like the ipad even more because i get notifications (social and for work) and i can easily write down what i have to do in the app, "things" (its like a agenda) and the ipad doesnt lag like a bitch when i run alot of things. the ipad is alot more user friendly and accessible imo. i hear alot of "the ipad sucks cause you cant type stuff in word docs and no flash". i oppose that because there are apps where you can save stuff in pdf's and word docs and add ons and apps that can run flash. "notes plus" is even better than microsoft word imo cause you can highlight stuff faster and make charts easier than ms word. then you can save it to a pdf or email it to yourself. if you know how to use your ipad, its way more convenient than using a desktop/laptop. the ipad loads apps in a few seconds whereas computers take more time. you can switch programs easily with multitasking.
i wouldnt say "the ipad is a fail". its not a fail product because there is actually a pretty good demand for them. you cant just say its a fail because there are people do useless shit on them. in fact most of the people i know just use their computers to go on facebook, twitter, blogs, forums, music and homework. wouldnt that make computers fail? different products have different uses and i fully beileve apple achieved what they wanted to make. they made the ipad for a reason. although the ipad may be over-rated and overpriced, i wouldnt say its a fail. i am satisfied for what i paid for and i would say that its actually pretty efficient. im not a apple fanboy either, i actually prefer android over iOS but iOS is so developed i love it.
i hope no offense was taken, but im just trying to say that the ipad isnt a "fail" and it most importantly is efficient. once again, different consumers use their products differently. just because a product is over priced doesnt mean its fail. there are many things a ipad can do a laptop cant do too btw. the ipad is awesome for entertainment and can achieve things for work and that is already kick ass.. i cant see myself playing game or being entertained on a bus by a laptop.
im not a apple fanboy btw. i dont like mac computers.

In fact, most of the ppl who recommended the MBP were objective and normal.
The haters' criticisms are usually garbage because they don't care about what you need, but only about what they think you need (which is what they themselves want and need).

^ yeah as much as the gamer I was years ago, I only cared for specs back then. I cared for specs last year too.. I remember perfectly a year ago when i was arguing with people whether the milestone was worth 500$ or not. Milestone vs g1 or some shit.. Every little detailed mattered LOL. We had a oveclocked htc g1 and did speed tests and shit before and after mods lol.
Okay sounds like we had no life but that's the geek I used to be. I remember getting a iPhone 4 when it came out off craigslist for a killer deal of $550 bnib cause the guy wanted to keep his berry. I played around for a while and I was like "meh it's no different from my old ipod touch." then shortly after I sold it. After reading forums and the iPhone 4 thread I got pretty jealous and bought one just to fuck around in December because I got it for a steal too. Battery life was a huge upgrade for what the iphone is capable for and it didnt as much lag because of mods. Sure the specs cant compare to androids, droids are faster and cheaper. Notification system isnt shit, fully customizable and the widgets kick ass. Honestly im very bored of using the droid. Perhaps I need my entertainment?
I don't think I can live without my games and stuff from iOS from now on lol. Although I'm about to get a desire as a phone I'm still gonna use an iPod touch 4. As for other tablets no matter how cheap they are and how fast they are they will all be pretty similar imo. iPad is unique in its own way. I actually dont mind iTunes at all.. What better way is there to sync your songs? Drag and drop? LOL. I love the auto backup and syncing. My iPad had nothing in it and when I synced it to iTunes all my contacts from my phone was there. Email was set up for me and favorite playlists, custom playlist, browser bookmarks all neatly filed, I don't know what's with all the hate for it. Just takes time to get used to I guess. I doubt other net books tablets have a battery as long lasting as the iPad either.. At 11:55-12:02 I typed that post up there and now it's 12:31 and I've been playing fruit ninja online, music thru the speakers and the battery is at 98%.. If you are a consumer for entertainment, no other tablet or netbook can beat the ipad IMO.

Many of my e-mails contain PDF's with technical documents. These are the worst to try and read on a smartphone. So I wait until I get to work.
At work, I often have to print out technical documents and especially wiring diagrams before I go to look at a problem. I then take my 10+ pages of diagrams out to a vehicle I'm looking at while performing diagnostics/testing.
The ability to read (and store via iBooks) PDF files is alone worth the price of an iPad. I can read documents sent to me "comfortably" while commuting and I keep can iPad in front of me as a reference for my wiring diagrams/technical documents instead of wasting paper printing what I need. And if I need another page I forgot to print originally, I can simply flip over to it instead of running back to the desk to print more pages.

Two recent news items that I find are interesting:
- The first is that Apple has apparently spent $3.9 billion to "buy up" 60% of the global supply of touch screen displays used in iPads from the major suppliers. So I guess this leaves all the other tablet manufacturers to fight over the remaining 40%?
- Apple has 83% of the paid App market with a value of $1.8 billion in 2010. RIM was 2nd with $156 million, Nokia 3rd with $103 million and Google 4th at $102 million. Now if you were a developer, what platform would you want to develop for if you wanted to get a return on your investment?

I still see no point with these tablets. I really still don't get the hype associated with it.
Maybe I'm old school, but reading documents I really need a piece of paper, something tangible I can scribble on and mark-up. Judging from how "the iPad, with it's larger screen means you can read the newspaper on a large display with clear, legible text without feeling cramped" , soon we will have tablets the size of a 20" monitor.
seriously, 4" of screen space is enough, anything beyond that (ala HTC Evo 4G) is a joke. IMO if you are going to carry that much screen real estate with you, why not bring a netbook? why not bring a convertible netbook? - it isn't going to fit in your pocket anyway
it's a fun toy nonetheless; I'll give Steve Jobs the credit for creating such a huge hype machine, it is really nothing more but a scaled ipod touch

^ thats why its a success...its a novelty that people want...now do they really need it? some might but some might not...
you might think 4" is enough but some might like 8" some might like 21" (if one exist)...i remember reading a post regarding TVs...'but the biggest that you can get so you won't have regrets about buying the bigger tv later'...almost the same type of mentality here..

There were many tablets available long before Apple came out with the iPad. They ran anything from Android to full blown Windows. The Apple hype machine made tablets popular.

^ dang that sucks.... he was such an icon, without him I fear that Apple will just go back to the little hole they dug before jobs came back with the iMac.
Well, best to him, and I can only hope this rumour is false.
