can the 9500 detect upcoming laser speedtraps if the cop is tagging cars in front of you but not your car directly?

A stray can be detected. Thank god there aren't too many lasers out there. At least not where I travel.

So basically the laser detection function isn't all that useful...
I guess I'd be better off with a laser jammer than a 9500 then?
Since most cops use laser here in Vancouver right?

Since most cops use laser here in Vancouver right? | Well a jammer confuses the laser gun, but eventually the cops will nail you. You still need the radar detector to signal you of the laser and the other things out there like speed cameras. I'm not sure if there are any speed cameras here yet, but it's only a matter of time.
I'd still say radar detector first, then jammer. In all honestly lighter right foot is best. I don't speed in the city. Highway, yes, and even then, I obey speed limits in construction zones. I've learned not to be in a hurry and use the cruise control a lot.

I see, thanks for the advice. I think I will pick up a V1/9500ix in the future.
What's the usual lifespan of these devices though? I did a quick search and some threads about sending V1 in for calibration/tuning came up...not much for the 9500ix though.
Like I said, I usually don't speed relative to other cars but sometimes I need to hurry to an exam/meeting/etc...
I suppose it would also help driving alone late at night on Granville or smth.
