Accept/Refuse a Scholarship

I don't know how it works at SFU, but at UBC when offered a certain dollar amount by whomever, a student is able to "accept" or "reject" a scholarship offer.

Why would one reject an offer? Slightly curious as to the reasoning as to why anyone would give up free money given towards education..?!

To go to a different school?

Usually scholarships offered by the school are only used towards the school

Some scholarships come with conditions attached to them as well. Sometimes you may also apply to a wide net of scholarships and get offered more than you need so you can pick and choose which you take.
