+1

It is also against their regulations if your family drops you off so you can walk across the border while they use the Nexus lane (and pick you up on the other side). Your family will be risking having their Nexus privileges revoked for life and possible denied of entrance from US. Someone has done it before and their Nexus has been removed. US CBP takes the Nexus program very seriously. You don't want to mess with them

On an another note, I remember someone telling me a long time ago that the Richmond Passport office is the fastest in terms of renewing your passport (if you're not in a rush). Is this still true?

As others have stated above this will cost you quite a bit more of money, but if you need it ASAP it is an option for you.
Keep in mind though you still need to fill out the normal paperwork.

This is true!
I remember my friend did this a day before we were suppose to go to Vegas.
I just remember that the printers or something shuts down at 430.
