Obama proposes travel fee for Canadians http://www2.macleans.ca/2011/02/16/o...ee-for-canada/ $5.50 everytime to enter states? :failed::failed::failed::failed: :swear::swear::swear::swear::swear: |
Dumb ass fucking idiot |
Meh, not sure what the big deal is. The article says for commercial vessels (ie. airplanes, cruiseships, etc etc and NOT busses). There are already a pile of taxes, surcharges, departure fees when flying, what's another $5.50. |
as stated above its for flying etc. not for driving over the border... |
when your debt is $14 trillion + ... $5.50 seems like grasping at straws no ? http://www.usdebtclock.org/ |

Lets put a 500% duty/tariff on all the cheap prescription medicine they buy from us. |

If that $5.50 is going to keep you from a vacation to Florida, sucks to be you. If you want to fight a fee, fight 'fuel surcharges'. You buy your ticket, but you have to pay extra for the fuel used by the vessel? What sense does that make, lol. Waiting for the day a 'seat surcharge' is assessed... |
it's not about the $5.50. It could be 5¢ or $500.00. It's the principle behind it. Anyway, next time the Prime Minister meets the President and they are at a press conference, the Prime Minister should reach into his pocket and give the President a ten dollar bill and ask for change in front of the cameras. Where's Trudeau when you need him? Not afraid of the US. He would do that and more to prove a point. It's just a proposal if that........ the nerve of the bastards. Next time we have another incident like 911, we should tell the planes to land in Cuba instead. |
I thought US do charge already for other countries. If I recall correctly, my UK friend holding a UK passport had to pay something like $10 for the border agent to process him to enter US. |
airfare to the US are generally a rip-off anyways..just fly from bellingham |
putting a $5.50 charge is no different from having to pay for a Visa at the border. What's the point of having our no-visa agreements if you're going to bypass it with a "border-crossing charge"? |
just to clarify, it only applies to sea and air so when we drive through, we dont pay the 5.50 |
we should impose the same tax for them i mean its only fair right? |

That is where the $5.50 here and $20 there, and $10 everywhere come from. The fee's add up. |
For long haul trucks we have to pay 10 bucks to enter the states unless we have a transpoonder. 5.50 for commercial vehicles would cost alot of transportation companies some major $$. But, i see they crossed out vehicles so no worries :P. We should do the same thing, if this happens. |
what happened to nafta? isn't this the equiv of going backwards? |
we should make our fee $6.50 CAD . cuz Uncle Ben isn't worth a whole lot today :) .. |

the US is in a big fucking deficit and china basically owns them. give them a break. they charge nothing when times are good, but when times are rough they start nickle and diming for everything, how does this not make sense? our economy rides on theirs, so if they need $100 mil injected into their gdp then that shouldnt be a problem anyways, to offset the extra $5 in coin you spend to fly to the US, fly down there with an empty suitcase and old clothes, shopping spree then go have fun doing your vacation, then fly back with +$1000 savings in new clothes and products. problem, canada? |

So the US is struggling. Is that our fault? They rape us.......... oh sorry, we let them take our natural resources for dirt cheap because we're so nice......... wait... they bullied us for that............. great neighbours they are. Anyway, 5.50 is really nothing, we get that. Next it will be something else and it will keep going and going. The US Government has done this time and time again and we keep taking it. Think back to all the wars. The US had their dick in all of it. Always fucking other countries up the ass. Talk about smelly dick (refer to a certain thread in fight club). Having said that, the US is our neighbour, our cousins, our protector, our friends.................. with friends like them, who needs enemies? |
if you dont like it dont go. |

Exploiting other countries with the mind set that that they're better than the rest bit them in the ass. |

North American Free Trade Agreement. So if we buy a tshirt that is made in the USA we can bring it back to Canada Duty Free. (Though we can still get charged tax on it) This is something totally different. And does not fall under NAFTA. |
