question for strict asian families

in no way am i trying to be rude here, but me and my friend were noticing that we see asian families drive with the husband driving, while the wife sits in the backseat with either the front seat empty, or occupied by a child. why is this?
again, me and my friend were just curious, we've only seen asian families do this, is there a reason for this?

Not in my family. I drive, wife sits up front to give directions. Back seat driver up front so to speak. Quick backhand usually stops that shit, though. Hey, that's probably why. Can't get bitch slapped if you're sitting back there. You just get it after the trip, LOL.

I have a friend who was raised in a very traditional Chinese family, and every time he gives me a ride he'd tell his girlfriend to get in the back seat.
I always assumed it was because I have pretty long legs, but I hitched a ride with him and his mom once and he told his mom to get in the back seat also.

"and my bitch got body, but i sit her in the back cause my nigga called shotty"

I'm not aware of such practices other then the fact that guys r usually taller and giving them the front seat makes more sense.

Asian wife hate giving head while driving.

liu13 02-27-2011 11:18 PM

i think it`s cause they think it`s safer to sit in the back

cheapskate 02-27-2011 11:19 PM

What do you mean by asian exactly? It's such a broad and overused term.

I am Chinese and I have a really big extended family/family friends/chinese friends here and I've never once seen or heard of a Chinese husband asking his wife/mother get into the back seat lol.

br2 02-27-2011 11:19 PM

what kind of guy wants a nagging woman next to him while drives?

this. (without a shadow of doubt)

Spooling 02-27-2011 11:25 PM

i don't know where you get that from.
it's always been women driving the men.

scottsman 02-27-2011 11:27 PM

I would expect my gf to get in the back if I was picking up a friend and the 3 of us where going somewhere so he could sit in the front. Same situation but it is my mom then obviously the friend would sit in the back.

I have seen a lot of Chinese males driving while the passenger seat is empty and a wife or grandmother will sit in the back.

Same.
I'm chinese here, and my family isn't super traditional.
But some of my extended family is...

And i've never seen or heard of this practice before.

That's weird man.

stolengoods 02-27-2011 11:38 PM

I've never heard or seen that before either. Unless there was a reason, like the kid just wanted to ride shotty or taking care of a baby in the backseat. Or just needs the wife to hold a very delicate ice statue.

white_guilt 02-27-2011 11:50 PM

Ancient Chinese secret.

aaaa322 02-27-2011 11:54 PM

Hmmm I'm chinese and no one in my family does this... ever. I don't really notice it too.

geeknerd 02-28-2011 12:12 AM

its cuz us asians have chauffeurs and we sit in the back like a baws

flagella 02-28-2011 12:16 AM

never heard of such practices rofl...

butter_sashimi 02-28-2011 12:16 AM

The wives think it's safer in the back and value their lives more than the drivers/husbands

RCubed 02-28-2011 12:24 AM

When I drive my mom around she sits in the back...

.. cuz she hates getting in/out of my bucket seats. Lol

They do this so that if there's a head on collision, there is a better chance that one parent will survive to look after the child.

The same goes with lots of families I know who fly out on different flights -- increasing odds that more of the family will survive in case of an air crash.

Vansterdam 02-28-2011 12:38 AM

^ wow never thought about it like that before

while that makes sense, I'm not entirely sure that's the reason. At least, I don't think that was something my parents had in mind when I was little.

ar_ger 02-28-2011 12:54 AM

Asian wives don't like the sun very much. They must wear the power ranger mask to sit in the front.

It's very common with multi-billionaires, even if it means flying two separate private jets.
