Haven't done mine yet but I should be getting around 5-6K back this year. Put a bunch of money into my rrsp's plus work deductions.

when you buy software for taxes and submit your taxes with it, it submits through netfile. Netfile is not a software for doing taxes - it is a way of taking your electronic returns and submitting it.

"Tax returns filed via NETFILE must first be prepared using one of the 2010 commercial tax preparation software packages or Web applications certified for NETFILE."

being in university and going to h&r block is beyond robbery: it's rape. Your return is so ridiculously simple to do when you have a job and go to school, that H&R block charges you less for it. Fact is you coulddo it free yourself in 15 minutes, or pay $10 for automatic tax software which will take you 3 minutes.

When i did a co-op at cra, you wouldn't believe how many times clients would call because h&r completely fucked up their tax return and fucked them outta their money and caused them a headache. Half of those people were young students who for some reason thought taxes were hard to do, when in reality, you take a paper which tells you where to write stuff, and you write stuff where it tells you to.

How did you only work for 3 months but somehow "made too much for a single male." That makes no sense. Sounds to me like you didn't have taxes deducted each paycheque. And if you only had to pay $1000 TOTAL over the whole year on taxes, I don't envy you because that means you made like 10K the whole year.

Pay $7.5k in total taxes this year including Prov, Fed, CPP and EI and still got a return of $1800, some because of mis calculation on my employers part (commission work) but most because I got to deduct a ton of things .

could be that he worked a contract job. Contract jobs have no taxes deducted at source and count as self employment income - I remember last year i did a bit of contract work for a quick $5k throughout the year...ended up getting raped at the end of the year just because of it lol

760! Just finished using Ufile/Netfile, I can't believe I haven't done it this way before, so easy!!

And basically how it works is that you need a program to input all your tax information and all like Ufile, or TurboTax or whatever then you use Netfile to submit it. There was a question about this on the 2nd page.
