paypal problem
 

okay so i have a little bit of an issue...

i sold an iphone4 in december for $685. At the end of december the buyer issues a paypal chargeback complaint.

my paypal issue is $0.00 at this point.

the credit card company favors in the buyers favor and gives him back $685

They called me told me they are sending the phone back.

Phone arrive and canada post wants $69.xx to take the phone because the moron sending it doesn't write its being returned.

I haven't picked up the phone yet but paypal sent me an email saying the credit card company favored in the buyers favor and that I need to reimburse them $685.00

Should I refuse the package? What would be the best thing to do here?

Pay the $70 and get the phone back. If you don't want it don't pay. Plain and simple

Why did you deal with paypal/shipping a phone in the first place as opposed to a local sale done in person. Usually those are indications of a scam.

Sorry for the thread jack, but recently i connected my visa gift card to my paypal and bought a shirt online. I canceled the order because they said I didn't pay yet but 65 dollars was missing from my visa gift card balanCe. I checked paypal and indeed it said (-65) but the status says "canceled". Because the status is canceled i can't file a case on paypal. I emailed the t shirt company and they said the order was canceled early therefore the money should be returned. What can I do now or where is the money? Will I be getting my money back?

what is the reason for the chargeback complaint?
if you provided proof of shipment and the item is as described (assuming you sold it on ebay), i dont see how this is possible.

i'm not sure what to do in this case as it seemed like the buyer really wanted to screw you good for some reason. but if there's nothing else you can do then i guess you'd have to pay up to get the phone back, unless canada post is willing to work w/ you to negate those fees provided the buyer is willing to clear things up with them?

probably best to call canada post's customer service number and see what your options are. i had shipping problems before and the CSR's are pretty nice and let you know what your options are if you ask them.

He probably took YOUR phone and swapped it out with a defective phone!

How long ago was this? It generally takes 4-5 days for the are card company to revise the charge. Maybe even up to a week.

Usually when there's a refund, PayPal places a hold on it for about a week. Maybe that's happening for you?

Just pay the taxes.
Then go to the CBSA site and fill out a B2G Tax adjustment form.

Send in supporting documents that it was a return.

That happened to me once. Filled out the form send it out.
within 3 weeks I got my money back.

iphone is a hot commodity. CL should have been more than adequate..

ebay + paypal both take a cut from your auction. So that cuts into your margin right there.

You should get your money back after a few days. it takes like 3-5 days for it to credit back to your card.

Although, keep in mind that its actually against paypal policy to use pre-paid visa/mastercard gift cards

be careful and OPEN the box AT the post offices WITH WITNESSES. he likely sent you a brick with a tracking number. you , recieve different item. he laughs and walks away with your phone and $

they probably swapped with a faulty one or a smaller sized iphone or even an older iphone, you should have put all sales are final, no returns or refunds in the ebay ad

op should hop on the next flight to find the mofo and beat him silly.

i would call paypal and not pick up the phone. deal with paypal and find out the reason why the guy issued chargeback.

CL is much better than eBay when you're selling popular stuff like iPhone 4 or iPad.

Uh, how can you not pay Paypal back if your credit card is linked to your account? They'll just charge your cc!

take the $ out of the account, make sure its not linked to your bank account. do this before you pick up the package. go pick up package and open with a postal employee and let them know what you are expecting to recieve.

if its right, working and you want to give back the $ go ahead.

if you get a brick: obviously don't pay.
if he charges back to your paypal, the cant do shit. paypal will TRY to charge you. you file unauthorized charge against PP with your CC. paypal will cry foul and close your empty account. but at least you got your $

no they don't really do that.....

its pretty easy, cancel your C/C close your bank account.

and they can't do shit all cause its not like you gave them your SIN # and other things... so it will be really hard for them to ruin your credit rating

i deleted my bank account and deleted my credit card from my paypal account. it just sits there with -$685.
