Must Go Places while going to or in Portland, OR?

Hey guys,

I'm planning a trip down to Portland, Oregon and was wondering what are some must go places while driving down or when you're actually in portland? Will be going with the GF if that matters. I've already done a search and visited the thread about Seattle/Portland and there wasn't much there so I decided to post here where there is lots of traffic.

Any tips/suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks!

Voodoo Donuts - go early and prepare to wait in line that snakes around the block.

If you like Coffee, the popular joint is Stumptown Coffee.

Portland is also known for all the food stalls/trailers that are parked around parking lots downtown. Kind of like the Richmond Night Market, but all sorts of food.

I stayed at Hotel Monaco which is downtown. Excellent location, and very nice hotel. They also have a happy hour each day from 5pm-6pm, where they serve free wine and beer, with a live piano player.

Not sure if the Saturday market is open yet, but it's on the weekends under the Burnside Bridge.

Other than that, visit the Pearl District (kind of like our Yaletown) for lots of breweries and pubs.

shopping since there is no Tax. I went there a couple years ago and it's really neat just to walk around down town since everything is so close. As well the night scene is awesome with a gastown style atmosphere with real neat bars.

The sand dunes is actually pretty far away from Portland. It's one hell of a drive.

Was just there for the weekend.

-Voodoo Doughnuts in downtown is under renovations. Go check out their other location in Portland.

-Stayed at the Avalon Hotel & Spa; Priceline/Hotwire it. It's the only one in the "SW Waterfront Portland" area. 4 star boutique hotel.

-I prefer shopping in the actual malls like Pioneer Place. They have pretty good sales too and newer styles than the outlets.

-Checked out the Multnomah Falls too. Nice little place with trails and stuff. Pretty busy though.

I'm in Portland for the weekend and we're staying at the Crowne Plaza near the convention centre. Good location, nice rooms, and right off the I-5.

Go to Woodburn outlets, Bridgeport Village, and Washington Square. As for eats, try brunch at Tasty 'n Sons and dinner at Pok Pok. Also check out http://www.foodcartsportland.com/ for reviews and info on the food carts located throughout the city.

To the OP, try using Priceline! Using Priceline, I stayed at Hilton Garden Inn at Portland/Lake Oswego for 3 nights, $50 each night. Free parking and free wi-fi. No free breakfast though. It's not in downtown Portland - about 10-15 minutes away.

Hotel: priceline. Airport area is the cheapest with free parking.
Shopping: all mentioned above
Activities: there's nothing really with the city. Sand dunes are a few hours away.

I Just usually shop and buy tires at portland. Lol
