Poker

I know there are quite a few poker players around RS. I tried (unsuccessfully) to get a regular game going a few years ago but issues like location came up.

Anyone interested in getting a game together or if someone already has a regular one going, need another player? I have no real preference on buy-in amounts. I'll play a cash game too if the stakes aren't crazy.

As this is a grey area, this is in no way associated with REVscene or any staff.

I'm down, and have a good following that would come along if we need moar players.

Grandmaster TSE 04-24-2011 11:17 PM

i dont mind playing at all

Manic! 04-24-2011 11:29 PM

Why not set one up online?

Greenstoner 04-25-2011 12:18 AM

i hate BS set up hands online

Ronin 04-25-2011 11:00 AM

Because then I could just play online rather than taking your money. ;)

Online just isn't as fun as playing live. If there's more interest, I'll try to get something going again. We'll start with small buy ins and go from there.

Anyone have location ideas? My thought was always a public location...I know of several rooms at UBC we could use.

stewie 04-25-2011 04:35 PM

think 24hr coffee shops like waves or tim hortons in burnaby on kingsway would care if we had a few games in there at night when its not so busy? might be a lil tight but you can easily pull a few of those small tables up close to each other and get a good 6 person game going.

punkwax 04-25-2011 05:07 PM

Starlight casino will let you play on their tables and provide dealer for mini tourneys. I think as long as the dealer gets $5 from everyone, ie 10 guys pay $55, $50 goes into pot and the other $5 goes to the dealer so he/she gets $50. Not sure if any other casinos will do this?

I'd be down for that for sure.

DsZ24 04-25-2011 05:21 PM

I'd be down, ubc seems a bit far tho.

Not sure how accommodating they would be with that...

But I would be down for a more legit place... It could even be someone's house... hahaha if they are willing to let people know where they live.

soowu 04-25-2011 07:16 PM

yea they host sit and goes but you need 10 players

they have 4 different buy in levels 30+3, 50+5, 100+10, and 200+20

they basically run it like a super turbo tournament though so it wud be no fun

1500 chips and blinds start at 25/50 and 15min levels

I'm pretty sure playing poker for money is illegal.

PornMaster 04-25-2011 09:10 PM

We should set up a pokerstars home game and we can chat on skype

Illegal to rake or profit from the game, not illegal to play for money. Don't know about playing in a restaurant or doughnut shop though that screams sketch.
