AzNightmare 05-03-2011 11:42 PM

wow wtf... waiting game?
Not enough water to put it out?

I think the building's done... if it's not put out by now. I heard part of it already collapsed.

How does something like this catch on fire? Sounds like "foul-play"

Tai Chi 05-03-2011 11:42 PM

Yeah. Waiting game. 60 mil project gone.

domco 05-03-2011 11:43 PM

^ The building is done I walked out to see how it was like but ya it's goneeeeee

danizer 05-03-2011 11:45 PM

someone knocked on my door about 30 minutes ago just as the blackout occured in the odlin neighborhood and told me that one of the houses a few doors down caught fire from the burning embers that were floating down from the ash cloud....everyone on my block started to water their roofs like they were trying to grow grass on it...so i followed :)

cliffhanger33 05-03-2011 11:45 PM

It’s karma. The building on fire right now is the first 6-storey wood-framed building of its kind to be built in BC and created lots of controversy about the construction of it. Fire Departments had warned about it not being fire safe. And now look what has happened. I dont know why construction was carried out if it didnt follow fire safety regulations

The $60 million two-phase Remy project was billed as the first six storey woodframe building in B.C.

SO un-firesafe that it can spontaneously go up in flames before tenants even move in? wtf kind of wood you think they used? matches?

My entire twitter & facebook feed has been full of these fire updates and non-stop picture posts

Jesus christ people...it's a fucking fire!

It's like people in Vancouver have never seen a fire or something...holy fuck.

AzNightmare 05-04-2011 12:00 AM

just unsafe if it ever catches on fire. Cause it will most likely burn down like this then. Maybe it's a good thing it caught on fire before tenants moved in.

I'm already believing this is arson from somebody that obviously didn't like this project.
how else does a building just catch on fire with no one living in it... it's not even a completed building..

Well to be honest, I don't think many people have actually seen a fire that massive in real life.
The closest thing I saw was some crazy party where drunk people got out of control and set a couch on fire in their front lawn.
And that looked pretty massive already. I can't imagine a whole condo on fire...

Anjew 05-04-2011 12:00 AM

i never seen a fire in person...... an uncontrolled one that is.

Not sure what phase its in but if it's in the drywall stage I could see at least a chance of it happening. Lots of times they use large industrial propane heaters to help the drying process and they'll run them at night when nobody is in the building. I don't know the building or what phase it was in but it could happen. Then again it could be arson or some other cause as well, we'll probably find out.

The type of heater I'm talking about.
