Anyone else from a Private School have an experience that states otherwise?
No, but I went to a public high school in Rio (which makes the public schools here look like Catholic schools), and players didn't give a fuck about crowd taunts. Part of the game.

North Delta reminds me of the Lakers in their last game. They're about to get SWEEPED, they're getting WHOPPED in the final game of the series and they resort to flagrant foul after flagrant foul. LOL that's why they call it professional basketball...real CLASSY.

^ I happened to be at the game, supporting North Delta btw. The game was at 1130am-ish, I doubt kids were drinking at that time and both sides were very calm and cheering there teams on in mannerly ways, even to my surprise. This is the only negative incident from the game. The kid ran from the opposite side of the field to the ND fans and basically nagged them on to jump the fence and come after him. The ND players saw this and ran after the kid, eventually beating him up. Taunting the crowd from the other side of the fence was pathetic and sad, if you guys actually thought any race or group of people would actually let somebody get away with that with no altercation afterward, you guys are out of your minds.

AHAHAHA this is the most amusing post I have ever read.

You just placed verbal taunting of ONE person and the physical beating by MANY people into the SAME CATEGORY!?

You ALSO just made a comparison between "races" and "groups of people" stating that no one else would let "someone get away with that." LOL! Do you realize what you are saying? "Nobody would let someone who walks across a field to taunt a group of people get away without physically harming them..."

You think that 1 person taunting a group of 30 people is sad but 30 people beating up one person isn't? RIGHT!

With this sort of justification, I will take your "account on things" with a grain of salt. LOL

You've got a lot of growing up to do kiddo. In the REAL world, you can't just go hitting someone if they look at you wrong or SAY something that you do not like or agree with...

it's different when the fans attack one another but definitely not 'classy' for the players to fight the fan unless the players are physically attacked first. I have played in high level sports and still am and emotions do get high but all the classy and professional players understand that you leave it on the floor or field and its all over once the end whistle sounds. You can't justify in any way a player or players fighting a fan or fans based on taunting. I guess most of those young players don't understand that this picture will haunt them...good luck trying to play at the college level and explaing to the coaches/ad's what you were doing.

I find this very very stupid for the image of east indians, yes I am an east indian as well so there is no racism here. If the kid was saying racial slurs of course they had a reason to jump him but if he was just doing what the actions were as repeated above there is no point in jumping him. I would have honestly helped the kid.

I am an athlete as well but even if someone had done this to me I would have ignored it and proven myself at the sport. Not by being a classless jackass and fighting. Even though my sport is a contact one lol.

Very stupid...

I agree because i went to private school. But come on bro, what you described is 90% of the guys in Vancouver. The second them + their buddy guys throw on their affliction + rhinestones they're suddenly invisible, as if they've got an S on their chest.

And for those assholes who failed me....i don't condone using violence in order to combat words. But it really depends what the kid said to the crowd. Theres a big difference between
"Yay, we won, we are the champions, you are the losers" and "You guys fucking suck, no wonder you lost, you useless pieces of shit!"

just an update for everyone...

http://http://communities.canada.com...rney-bans.aspx

Quote:
B.C. School Sports laid down the law Friday on three boys varsity soccer programs.

North Delta Secondary, Dr. Charles Best Secondary from Coquitlam, and Burnaby Central were all banned for the next two seasons from appearing in the B.C. Senior Boys Soccer championships.

North Delta and Charles Best were issued their suspensions resulting from a brawl that erupted earlier this month following Best's overtime win against North Delta in the B.C. Triple A final at Burnaby Lake Sports Complex. B.C School Sports added that Burnaby Central was also suspended from potential championship tournament play the next two seasons, stemming from another incident that occured earlier in the season.

The three programs would all be eligible to return to championship tournament competition for the 2013-14 season, at which time they would each be beginning three years of probationary status.

Being an athlete myself and playing in highschool sports years ago, i feel that this is unfair to the players that were not involved. However, i think this forces the schools and coaches to teach more discipline and force better values in their athletes. This is kind of similar to a CIS football team out east, can't remember what school exactly but a bunch of the players were caught with steriod use and one was charged with distribution. I'm not saying steriod use and fighting is comparable but the football team was suspended for a full season or two meaning all the players that were not involved and future recruits for the coming season were also effected. How do you guys feel about this?

That sucks for the kids not involved - especially the ones who want to have a future in the sport. Unfortunately, those kids would probably have to transfer to schools that are allowed to compete, even if it means going to a different district.

I remember when my dad moved us from Vancouver to Coquitlam when I was grade 11. I still wanted to play football and be in the auto program so I'd either have to drive all the way in at 7:45 or catch a ride with my parents at 6:30am. Getting there early wasn't bad cause I could use the weight room and take a nap before class but sometimes football practice wouldn't end til 6pm so I wouldn't get home til 7 or would have to stay at my aunts house for the night. Weekends were even more interesting cause I'd pull 8hr shifts on Fri, Sat and Sun.

I like them laying the hammer down and stopping the schools from participating for a few years. Not only will it send a message to these schools and fans but also to other schools. It sucks for the people not involved who won't be able to participate but just like a child, discpline strictly early and hopefully you won't have anymore problems in the future.

Just because my child does something stupid i'm not going to punish your child just because he was there.

What BC School Sports did was effing retarded. They are punishing the wrong people. I would be so effing pissed if my child was on the soccer team for any of these schools. What the hell is wrong with people these days?

Now all these kids who were physically active, outdoors, socializing are now going to do what? Stay at home, play games, maybe go trolling and start fights, etc.

I team has 11 players on field and 5 or 6 subs give or take a couple. The fight shows about 7 or 8 players. I'm sure not all 16 or so players are out there to start fights. My parents initially put me in sports to keep me occupied outside of school time to prevent me from getting involved with wrong crowds. I think that worked for me as I had practise after school and couldn't go watch the fight at the flagpole. So i definitely think this could have a negative impact on some of those borderline kids that needed a highschool sport to fill a "gap" in their life and now will be looking to something else to fill that in with. A few bad apples ruined it for everyone. In highschool sports, switching schools just to play a sport isn't an option for every athlete so some of them may never get that opportunity at all now.

My parents put me in sports outside of school, they also raised me not to be an idiot. Hanging out with the wrong crowd or fighting just cause wern't parts of my everyday life. Thats half the problem today, parents don't do enough and aren't active enough in their kids lives. It's so easy to pass the blame and not take responsibility for ones action now a days. I'm not saying I was perfect either but one thing my dad always made sure I knew was if I fucked up, own it and take whatever consequences it brings.

I don't know if any of you guys have been to a soccer game but theres tons of taunting going on towards, players, entire teams, referees, and other spectators. Kids need to flex their ass cheeks and accept the taunts, if you can't maturely deal with someone name calling you how are you going to deal with the rest of the problems in your life? Kick them?

I completely agree. I also know, however, that a lot of highschool coaches and teams push really really hard to win. Push to the point almost of hate. "You know that bully you hate? That's the whole team." "Just imagine that when you beat them, they're gonna go crying home to their mommas".

Certainly it punishes the students who were not involved. It also sends a serious message to not just the players, but the coaches and the entire system to make sure that the game is kept competitive but not to the point of actual hatred and beatings.

Totally. This is one of those things that pisses me off about the whole "fight to get rid of bullying". Bullying and taunting and all this shit is inescapable. Suck it up, learn to deal with it and move on. Someone will always be trying to taunt you or belittle you or figure out some way to get under your skin. Just gotta suck it up and figure out how to move past it.

This is a funny situation. There is so much contreversy about recruiting in BC Highschool Sports. What an excellent opportunity for neighbouring schools to recruit the star athletes coming from North Delta & Charles Best Secondary. Time for Sands Secondary to, once again, stock up on their starpower!!! Gee, Great work BC School Sports!!!!
