:alone: i got nhl11 for free only played it less than 5 times, should i even still get this for $20

van19 08-23-2011 02:16 PM

just played a quick game. there's not many changes made. Hits are a lot harder and more realistic, its harder to flatten the other players but I just dumped Marchand into the bench :). Visuals are identical, not much new. Same boring ass commentary :speechless: Yes, you can fit and interact with goalies but you'll get bored of it in a couple games. Same shitty ass music too. Not sure if its worth the $69.99 but I'll still get it regardless

You guys should consider getting NHL 09 pc and get it modded.

- New rosters monthly
- player mugshots are accurate after trades
- more challenging cpu
- accurate jumbotrons
- accurate board ads
- etc

You'll be surprised at the fact how much better the game looks on pc compared to console

vafanculo 08-23-2011 02:54 PM

Are the dekes the same? Same type of boost ?

Well..considering the NHL series has been the same recycled game since NHL 07, the only difference is that NHL 12 has hitting into the bench and goalie crashing/fighting

Tim Budong 08-23-2011 05:00 PM

the promised AI tweaks and individual player traits should make this one a bit more interesting. once we get our hands on the real thing, we will know.

downloading the demo now..we will see

DanHibiki 08-23-2011 05:32 PM

The game speed is slower which I like.

Hitting is better, skating is better, and I enjoy the added shooting animations to the game.

The puck is loose when winding up for a slapshot.

Pokechecking hasn't changed at all.

The ability to have scrubs in front of the net is nice but still kinda hard to do as a d-man.

Overall, it feels more realistic.

I notice that it's harder to get the puck through traffic now which is nice. And screens are actually effective this time around.

But what makes or breaks the game is whether there is more or less glitches in the game.

I have yet to try that stupid deke around the AI dman that works everytime in NHL 11 so I'm not sure if that's in it.

I read that the stupid short-side deke and everyone does online is still in it. (since NHL 10 for Christ's sake)

And the weird looking, 180 degree hook shot when going across the net still works. I thought that this would be removed since they added more shooting animations.

I only play EASHL so glitching online is very important. I usually play center on my team but had to drop to defence because so many ppl exploit the crappy AI.

NHL 07 is when they started completely fresh and had the new "next-gen" series of NHL. But it is come a looooooooooooong way since then.

Albeit the changes every year since NHL 08/09 hasn't felt much different, but they are small very necessary updates. NHL 11 is much better than NHL 10 if you play it a lot especially online.

First thing I noticed - is why the Canucks Goaltending is considered 97, while Boston is only 91... I guess they take into account our Backup, but either way, it's insane.

Either way, it felt great to destroy some of the boston players.

411ken 08-25-2011 07:34 AM

Game seems ok.. just a couple of changes (as mentioned here already).

I will eventually get it as my Stamkos (my favorite player) is on the cover haha

I wish EA would do the same thing 2K sports did for their NBA series and that's to have the old school team (i.e. 96 bulls, etc..)

How great would it be to play the '94 canucks vs the current canucks hahahaha

I haven't played a PC games in AGES but do ppl even play online?

I only get these sports game to play online or with someone else

lol at the canucks goaltending being rated 99. Luongo was letting in weak five hole/gloveside goals. I was pretty pissed

Most of the rating is Schneider :troll:

BlackZRoadster 08-25-2011 10:20 AM

I don't see much difference in the new one I'll still buy it just because everyone will be playin the new one online.

The demo is not bad, I really enjoy this new engine EA is using.

I'm not interested in the whole "Legends" pack but either way, still can't wait for the game to come out!

CorneringArtist 08-25-2011 08:30 PM

Fuck Gary Thorne. The gameplay improves every year, but it's that asshole who's holding me back from buying the game new. Yes I'm nit-picking, but why does EA have to be cheap and pick a commentator who hasn't done NHL games since 2004?

Ilagon 08-25-2011 10:00 PM

I've always thought that they should implement every team's home commentating and have the option of choosing that or the default Gary Thorne. Imagine John Shorthouse commentating, that would be awesome. And the guy who calls the Sabres games, he's dope too.

skippynixx 08-26-2011 06:36 AM

Or have commentator dlc ($6.99), we all know EA loves making money off DLC

hotjoint 08-26-2011 07:36 AM

FYI you can run down the goalie after the whistle and not get a penalty :troll:
