I'm glad I didn't pick up the MBA yet! I can't wait until other PC makers starts building a similar form factor laptop!
My only wish is that a 256gb SSD is more affordable

as a current Asus Laptop user i have to say....
one of the better laptops ive used...
and yes it seems the only downfall for asus is over heating...
judging form the size and CPU power.. i would go out a limb and say it will over heat =.=

Apple is what most business's wish they were, a company who can take all the money they can and some how take more.
MAC's are horrid computers. I think the iPod/iPhone line up is the ONLY thing good to come out of apple other than low key software they have.

Laptops are like cars. You can only have two of fast, cheap and well-built (or good looking depending on who you talk to). Macbook Pros have always had fast hardware and they feel solid.
On the other hand, PC laptops usually have fast hardware on the high end and cost less but they've always been either massive bricks or flimsy. I had a thin Sony prior to buying a MBP and it never felt as solid. The plastic creaked, the keyboard flexed. Plus I spent years working retail, selling $600 laptops to people that didn't know any better.
Admittedly, PC laptops have gotten a lot better in terms of build quality lately, especially those high end HPs. Asus has made some decent things in recent memory. I had one of those super portable 10" ones...not the netbooks.

I use both on a regular basis. They're not 'horrid' computers, they can do just about anything a PC can.
Unless you're an engineer that frequently requires the use of proprietary software, Mac fits the bill for just about anyone else.

I use both.
Macbook for school and desktop for home.
imo. having a desktop PC is a MUST. I can't stand using a Mac as a desktop for some reason? I need the PC as i'm so used to it.
But, I LOVE my macbook for school. It just feels and works great. Best laptop i've ever owned. And I don't need to worry about viruses. So I always stream/download videos/movies/porn on my macbook without worrying about my computer getting slow.
I think you can have the best of both worlds. Just don't count the mac out just yet.

Shouldn't this be in the Computer Forum?

PCs need the extra horsepower because Windows is a dog. Until you use OSX/*nix day to day, you don't realize how much of a dog it is. Woof.

where does this misconception come from that an apple laptop is better for photoediting than a pc? Get your head out of your ass.
Dumb comments of the year award for that one. Quote:

The reason for that is because it's a trend that alot of entry level photographers took., and has no merit what so ever.

When Apple used PPC architecture, it could be argued that it allowed Macs to perform graphical tasks more efficiently and quickly than the generic x86 architecture.
With Apple using x86/64 just like any other PC, that argument is over.

the thing that bugs me the most are people that buy apple just for the sake of having an apple and not for what the computer can actually do

Netbooks are a class of laptop computers based on price, hardware and overall (lack of) capability...not because of their size, even though that's a factor.
