Oh my god, it's beautiful. It's like if Apple gave the Macbook Air some real specs.

If I can install OSX on it, I'm sold.

In that case it would cost 4 times the regular msrp.

Why would it cost more? It's not like they're installing it for me.

But yes, if Apple actually made something with these specs, it would probably be about $8,999. They already sell hardware from 4 years ago for $1649.

Judging from the naming scheme ASUS uses, it's most likely a 12" laptop. (I didn't watch the video, so excuse me if they mention it there).

I had the UL20 before, and it was an amazing laptop. Best keyboard I had ever used.

Meowjin 05-30-2011 01:50 AM

i have a bamboo asus and it's handsdown the most beautiful well priced laptops ive ever purchased.

Harvey Specter 05-30-2011 02:00 AM

Hasn't Asus come out with a laptop with an touch screen keyboard?

StylinRed 05-30-2011 05:52 AM

i got banned from that reviewers (tnkgirl) site/youtube comments

cuz i thought it was a dude after watching a video and expressed my surprise (because i had always assumed it was a girl)

and when i got banned i thought i really offended the guy so i sent a pm apologizing for having previously assumed he was a girl

turns out the reviewer IS a girl lol (or so it and others say)

:haha:

Looks suspiciously like the Macbook Air eh!

I wish competitors would innovate a little more instead of trying to one up Apple.

Perhaps I'm jealous, since I have an MBA, and the only reason I got it is because it's the lightest and thinnest laptop out there. I wanted a windows equivalent and FINALLY we get this.. and it looks just like an MBA. ASUS even using the term "Unibody Engineering", same as apple. The only thing they did was maybe it Polished Aluminum instead of the Matte Finish!

Now the question, when will this thing come out! Looks great.

This thing looks to be about the size of the 13" MBA, but it doesn't have an SD card slot like the MBA does. Also, wondering what the capacity of their hard drive is....

Also this thing is slated for a Sept release date, and I'd be surprised if Apple doesn't refresh their MBA lineup by then.

Mommy wants too.

That is a pretty, pretty piece of machinery.

dignatas 05-30-2011 08:05 AM

lol I didn't see the video but judging by the CPU and the thin laptop. I am guessing it *might* overheat like crazy. Hope it doesn't though, looks REALLY nice

didn't Sony come out with a thin; ultra light laptop too? (not as thin but lighter?)

i cant stand ultra thin devices though, be it computers or phones

not only for the fact that i feel like i'll snap em in two but also for the reason of i can't hold onto them; they seem to slide out of my fingers with ease

LiquidTurbo 05-30-2011 08:11 AM

^ lol? If you hold a MBA, you dont get any feeling that you can 'snap' it.

Yeah it looks so fragile - makes me think I'll need to handle it with two hands at all times.

Guess I just have to handle one of these just to get a feel for them.

That's why it's got the metal casing.

The MBA is nice, while it's light it feels solid in your hand. You should pick one up before you judge it.

lacubrious1 05-30-2011 08:42 AM

Looks like a macbook air down to the same style keyboard and trackpad.

If this comes out in september, it'll be interesting to see what apple comes out with. New MBA's are rumored to come out within a month or two with sandy bridge processors as well.

CP.AR 05-30-2011 09:01 AM

DO WANT

I love ASUS.

My 4 year old F3SV, though large and not very "pretty" has held up my entire undergrad career from start to finish. No hitches (except for the screen, which they replaced under warranty with a turnaround in under a week).

And their price to spec ratio is among the best IMO

the issue is mainly slipping out of my hands snapping is secondary (as for the macbook air yeah definitely feels like it'll snap; or fold in half ;))

asus also has a netbook with the same design

runs meego though

So whats the point of having such a small laptop with an i7 if it doesn't have a gpu to back it up? I'm still in love with my m11xr3 ;)

EmperorIS 05-30-2011 09:40 AM

Photoshop, video editing among other things.

TheKingdom2000 05-30-2011 10:40 AM

i'm not sure about the glass trackpad.
That doesn't sit well with me at all.

Nightwalker 05-30-2011 10:52 AM

Soon all laptops will be this thin.
